Gutted Interor...Whats everyones thoughts.
Ok guys right now Im contimplating on....if i should gut the interoir from the Front of the rear seats back to the trunk and in side there too. Basically the 2 cushioned seats, the middle devider piece, the OEM sound dampening crap, As much of the metal bars the opening of the cabin to the trunk has, and any other small deatailed pieces.
Whats your opinin about doing this or not...
HAs anyone done this and tookin pics. Please provide a pic if anyone knows of any.

Tons of people have done it but think about it, if you only gut the rear, what is the point? Your car is going to handle like crap with a heavy a$$ front and hardly nothing in the rear. If you are going to strip your car, you might as well do everything.
yeah you will need to take an equal amount out of the front if you want to maintain balance.....possibley relocate battery to the rear.....look in the FAQs thread for list of weight redux
i removed my rear seats, rear center thing..rear dash...rear portion of the headliner...3rd brake light...trunk panels...and front doorpanels
i left the rear panels on because i would be putting the interior back later
i removed the rear dash, seats, front door panels, etc so it would be easier on the guys to tint it
car is noisy
i plan to autox is gutted for a couple of events before i put the interior back

i removed my rear seats, front passenger seat, door panels, double din stereo and everything from my trunk for local drag racing event. i weighted everything i removed on my home scale and it was 132lbs total. i put back everything afterwards. i hate gutted interriors. it's much better to get lightweight wheels and save lot of unsprung weight, get lightweight battery, hood, seats etc.
I did it for a while...And I even painted the bare interior a glossy black. I hated how cold it was and how noisy it was...Now everything is back in with new interior. The only reason I did it before was because the previous owner/s smoked like it was their job. Now that I have new interior...Its all back to the stock look and I love it.

gutting your interiors is for race cars...not DD's.
though my trunk has nothing in it becasuse i constantly have tools and stuff for work, and i dont want the troubles of everything rolling around.
p.s. if you JUST take out the rear seats it may save about 10 Lbs MAX. the rear seats are really light.

All the sound insulation, rear seat, rear brackets....I would guess around 115-120lbs. The rear seat isn't that heavy, but the brackets that support it are. I dropped around 220 lbs off my car through this and that(a/c, ps). I did leave my carpet in, though.
Yes, 100something pounds would be noticeable in acceleration, braking, handling, fuel economy. If you don't like a car that's a lot louder, I wouldn't do it. I love it, but most do not. Make sure that you get every bit of the insulation up if you do it. I painted the metal to give it a clean look. You're going to be even more front heavy after you do this. You're not taking any weight from the very front of your car, but you're taking it out of everywhere else. I'd look into a battery relocation.
