bumper lights, custom foglights
my buddy drives a 91 hatch and we are going to turn his bumper lights into some custom fogs, using about 50 white l.e.d.'s per lense. we are also planning on using a smaller amount of orange l.e.d.'s so he still has his turn signal.
here's the problem i cant find any bumper lights that dont have the fluted(?) lense. this would break up the beam correct? are there any without the blurred lense?
thanks
edit: here is an example of the blurred lense i am referring to...

this a very rough example of what it will be. we are going to stuff as many white l.e.d.s as we can (hopefully about 50-60) towards the inside of the bumper light and use 10-20 amber l.e.d.s towards the outside of the light to use as a turn signal.
i dont know the specifics of resistors, etc. im not the electronics guy, lol. i wil leave that to the mad man behind this project.
i will try to get some during and after photos and as much info as i can to show some results.

is it just me or that car needs an alignment. lol

still gathering parts... electronics guru just ordered about 400 l.e.d.s and resistors, should be picking up the black housing lights in a few days.
decided to use the lens shown, we figured with as many l.e.d.s that we are stuffing into these things it shouldnt effect the beam.
thanks for showing interest
ill be sure to get the finished product on here, may be a few weeks.

camber adjustment is different than alignment anyway.

any photos? did your buddy finish his project?
i just put some "switchback" led bulbs (from autolumination.com) to replace the 1157's, so they light up white and blink orange. so its the same idea of running lights turned into fog lights while keeping the orange blinker.
they work pretty good and they definately dont blind traffic.
the only thing i dont like is the color of the white led's, they are blue-ish

well, you'll need to cram a LOT of LEDs in there. I bought some LED light bulb replacements that had about 50 or so LEDs per bulb (all shining forward), and they still weren't as bright as a regular light bulb. Actually, most of the problem is that the they don't spread light, like a regular bulb, its more like a spot light, which would work better for fog lights.
good luck.
good luck.
the lights are finished, took our sweet time on them, also had issues with the sealer that was used for the circuit board. it was a 2 part epoxy and it was mixed incorrectly and never dried. the lights had to drip over trashcans for a while. they are on the car and look awesome. should be able to get some photos/vids this weekend
