who traded "down" for a civic Si
i currently drive a 05 Legacy GT. great great car. my previous car was an integra GSR. so when i got the LGT i was blown away by its torque. i've had the car for a year an a half and its starting to get old. for me at least. mileage never really got noticeabily better. altho the power was there, its still a big car.
basically i miss my GSR, and i figure 4dr Si might be a good step down car. i'll trade in power for tossability and better mileage.
well anyone traded down for an Si

Don't think it constitues as trading down, but I had an '03 Tiburon V6 that i put about 7-8grand into that i traded for the Si. Took me a while to adjust to the torque difference, but reliability wise and performance wise I think it's a better choice. Probably one of the hardest things I've had to do.
But I love this car so it's all good.

My wife is trading in her '06 CRV SE for an Si Sedan this week, but after driving it...I kind of want one too...I might end up being yet another Evo owner switching teams.
my signature explains my story. Someday I hope to get that car again....... I miss the BUTTERY smooth transmission, but that's not to say that the Si isn't pretty good either.
I miss the more sporty feel of the RX8, but not the gas mileage

honda / mitsu dealer....got raped. 11k miles, MINT, 20,700 on a trade. I gave it to them with TEIN coils and had the factory sunroof as an option. Eh, what are you gonna do, it's a mitsu and doesnt hold value.

Try and sell your Evo privately. Maybe you can get a few grand more.

Also, consider that dealers do not care if you added aftermarket features or not. That doesn't raise the value of the vehicle. If anything, they will be weary of buying a vehicle that may have potential performance issues due to the mods. Probably offer you less than pure stock.

Pretty quick for a 2.7L V6. Curb weight was about 3015lb. so the pick up from the torque was NICE.
And you get alot more response out of mods to. CAI gave me 15whp on that car.
But even my stock Si feels faster than my tibby with I/H/E was. Took me a while to get used to the Si's torqueless motor, but i-vtec quickly made me forget that. All in all the Si is an all around better car

nope, they really arent holding their value, i checked about 10 different mitsu dealers...most wanted to give 17-18k. You might do ok if you find a young kid who wants to buy one and his parents are willing to buy it for him... trade in, ain't worth crap.

that's cause it's a DEALERSHIP or as most people would say "stealership". They are always tryin to get the upperhand cause they will turn around and sell it for 4-5 grand more than what they bought it for from you.
Kelley Blue Book of an 03 Lancer Evolution with 11k miles and mint condition is $21,550. An '04 EVO with 11k has a value of just over $24,000. An '04 STI with the same miles has a value of only $22,000.
Of course that was done using MY zip code. Not sure how much it would be affected in other areas around the country.

just because the KBB says a value doesn;t mean your going to find anyone to buy it for that much...its an estimate not a guarantee

Truth, a used Evo isn't worth much... my old 99Si was 4.5 years old when i traded it in, i paid 17k for it, traded it for nearly 14k, that's what i call holding value. I'm very happy with my new purchase, and really cant wait until spring when it's all modded up!
