ac bearing going out
anyone ever had any luck replacing the ac pulley bearing....went to some ac shops and they said that it can not be done on a sanden compressor? also if the bearing were to lockup could it possibly snap the timing belt or make it skip time? thanks
My A/C bearings locked up on me, first it squealed, then smoked. I just pulled it out when i did my swap. Nothing too bad can happen, you'll just have to get a new belt& compressor
i know that it is on a separate belt and all but a complete lock up was the concern.....i guess i am just being paranoid about it cause it is my wife's car and dont want to hear it if breaks down.
no, if it locks up the motor will keep spinning and the belt will burn till it breaks, you will smell a god awful smell if it starts to lock up. just replace the idler as a whole its not that expensive
well i dont think it is the idler itself, it is the compressor pulley. i already replaced the idler. i originally thought it was the compressor but i oiled the poopy out of it and it still makes the noise like crazy. there is a separate bearing for the pulley correct?? thanks
