weirdest clutch pedal
in a 91 crx si, my clutch pedal play is odd half the time... it is kind of tough to describe in typing, but i'll do my best. the clutch pedal travel from the floor to the top say is about a foot of swing. the car goes at around 70-80% closer to the top, normal, but only half the time in 1st, the car moves after the pedal is at about 20% off the floor. cant pinpoint when its going to do it... at a stop, put it in first, let ur foot off the floor just the slightest and it idles down and starts to roll. but until i hit that 70-80% mark is the only real spot that it grabs. between this 20% and 80% it just seems so weird, like i'm burning clutch and i cant help it.... otherwise, the other half the time pedal is perfect, meaning its letting out at the 70-80% point... my guess is a stretched cable, and in thinking this i dont want to adjust it, cuz its only half the time, and i dont really want to chance the losing my clutch situation.. any help or thoughts would be greatly appreciated, hope my explanation is good enough. thanks guys
check to make sure the lever where your cable attaches isnt cracked and bent from running over something. Then check to make sure your pedal and cable assembly is not not broken. then next thing would be the Throwout bearing is broken or pressure plate bent. you would have to pull the tranny to check that.
cool dude, i'll check that... the other thing i noticed is when the clutch is down and the car starts to roll at the 20% point, if i take it out of first and let up the clutch then push it down again, it doesnt do it.. odd, but i will definatly check out the levers and look for cracks, but if i have to wait, i know the secret now. thanks again!!!
