Default Buying 5th gen Lude for daily driver

Hey guys, I'm planning on buying a '00 4th gen Prelude as a daily driver. The guy selling it to me is a co worker of mine, he says the car runs really strong even with almost 150k on the clock, and it's never been in an accident. Only downside is, it's automatic. But I'm not buying this car to go fast anyways, just get me from point A to point B.

My question is, since I don't have alot of knowledge about Preludes, is there anything that I should look out for when buying a used one? He said the auto tranny has been rebuilt once already by the dealer. I'm also wondering if the timing belt would be due for a 2nd replacement. Anyways, any tips would be helpful and appreciated.

For 1 if its a '00 then its a 5th gen, and im not to sure about those trannys, but if i were you i would replace the timing belt if it hasnt been already cause 150k is a decent amount of miles for the stock timing belt, my .02

Haha, yeah ok 5th gen prelude. I'm a Prelude n00b. Oh which brings me to my next question, what kind of gas mileage can one expect from these cars?

I hope it's better than the 13-14mpg I get from my EVO.

auto is rated at 21/27 city/hwy. the 00-01 automatic trannys are notorious for breaking down for no apparent reason. i heard of honda offering free repairs for this. if that's what the dealership did then im guessing it's all good. personally i dont like the auto trannys. my 96 minivan has a better transmission than that. but the lude is an awesome all around car esp as dd. you can't go wrong with the lude. good luck man. how much is he selling it for? take good care of it dude.
