Strong gasoline smell near filler cap
Yes, it sounds obvious and dumb, but it's not as simple as a faint odor after filling up. Days after I fill up, there is a strong stench near the fuel filler door and around the rear wheel well. I secure the cap very tightly, but I suspect that some line may have rusted through somewhere, or some gasket needs replacing. Has anybody had similar issues? When the tank is near empty, the smell isn't as strong, and no gasoline is spilling out, just vapors are escaping.
Also, since I don't want to make a whole separate thread about it: how hard is it to replace a transmission mount, and are they all the same for auto civics? (Mine's a wagon).
TIA

Can you smell it from the inside of the car? Remove the inside plastic paneling on the gas door side of the rear hatch area and see if there is any damage to anything that you can see. Most likely you will not see anything but its good to cover your bases. It might be something as simple as a tiny pinhole leak on that side of the car. Just double check your fuel lines even though they do not seem to be leaking. Just see if there is any noticeable moisture on them. Only takes 15min and it will either be the problem or you can cross that off the list of possibilities.

It doesn't smell inside the car. I looked in the trouble shooting section of the Hayne's manual, and I suspect a loose or punctured fuel return line.
Jack up the back end of the car so you can look under it. Then start the car, and watch and smell for leaks. You can also lift up the back seat and see part of the filler tube.
As for the tranny mount, it's very easy. You may need to remove the air intake hose or the battery to get at it. Place a floor jack under the tranny to support it, then just remove the old one and replace it with the new one.

I had a small leak in the return line going back to the tank, its not under pressure so it didnt leak very much, I had the same symptoms you describe. jack it up and if it is wet or smells gassy
then find out where it is leaking from. I had the metal on the return line rust out and was leaking from the metal not the rubber line. I cut the couple rusted inches off then got a new longer rubber line and clamped it on.
