Default Auto-X Shock Question

I've got a question for all of the stock ITR autocrossers/racers (assuming there are any of you left stock ).

Did a search and didn't find much of anything, so forgive me if this has been asked already.

I am thinking about getting adjustable shocks for my ITR, in order to give me a little more control over the suspension and handling of my car. However, I'd like to remain in stock class for at least this year, so what are some good adjustable shocks for my ITR that aren't going to break the bank? I'll also probably move into STX at some point in the future, so it would be nice if these shocks would work well with upgraded springs as well. Thanks.

Koni's are affordable, revalveable, and readily available. THey're probably your best choice if your set on getting shocks. Please note the rears for ITR are not externally adjustable, but can be converted for around $120 per shock at places like TrueChoice. (their value starts to diminish when you have them converted)

IMO you really don't need adjustable shocks for stock class. The ITR is perfectly competitive on stock shocks. I've had a top 10 car in GS (now DS) the past two years at Nats and don't feel the stock shocks slow you down at all. In fact, if I weren't such a bad driver I would have locked down top 5 finishes each year. A fellow type R owner switched to Bilsteins and said he liked the stock shocks better for autocross too and veterans like Kevin McCormick and Tom Smith say you can save yourself money and just do the rears with a quality adjustable like GAB, Tokico Rallye, etc to dial in the balance you're looking for.

To me there are better choices like coilover systems from Zeal, Apexi, Buddy Club, etc that are more fitting for a street driven, occasionally tracked/autox-d R, but they're clearly not legal for stock class. If it were my money, I'd run your car as is and buy the coil overs next year and run STX.

What's a good non-adj replacement shock for an ITR?

Or, does anyone have a complete shock/springs/upper mount setup FS?

Agreed. The only real advantage I can see to the Konis would be balance adjustability. They aren't stiffer off the shelf compared to the OEM shocks, and re-valved Konis are pretty expensive for what little they do for you in DS. Plus, balance adjustability comes from tire size, tire pressure, front sway bar changes, and driver technique too, so the shocks aren't the only way to make adjustments.
