ok so i got a ticket today for my front licence plate and the cop made me pop my hood and found that i didnt have a carb sticker for my greddy turbo kit that i bought used off ebay...now i know i have to get my car ref'ed but i was wondering what they did at the station, i have a ls/vtec in my car right now and the ticket says 27156(d) modifided exhaust, my question is do i need to pull my motor out, or is he just gonna test my exuast system which is stock...

any help will be great since i cant drive my car till this is fixed

more than likely he got you for the turbo kit which is "illegal" because you dont have a carb sticker for it. you have to pull the motor and turbo out of the car and get it ref'd. goodluck to you

 

this sucks cause i just pust my b16a2 block on my friends car so now i have to do 2 swaps...

so you only got a ticket for modified exhaust?? if that is the case then more then likely state ref will just test your noise from the exhaust DB test.. i got pulled over for my muffler and the cop made me pop my hood and i had a h22 swap... when i went to state ref, they just test the exhaust noise and made sure it was within DB range.. they ask me if the cop made me pop my hood and i said yes and i ask them if i have to smog it also, they said no because the ticket only was for the exhaust.. but i am not sure if your ticket was just for exhaust or modified engine..

I got my hood popped for my turbo kit too, cop fingered out almost everything I had. Just wait for the bail fee to arrive in a few weeks, then just pay it off..then you wont have to deal with removing parts, going back to stock, or state ref

 

and how much will that cost? also what if i get pulled over again...and i cant drive my car till its ref'ed right?

 

I forgot the amount, I think it was around $300? dont quote me on that however, but cops are full of it, theyll say anything to scare you. They told me to not touch a single thing on my car and take it straight to a state ref hahahha. I kept driving around in my car after it happened, I just stayed away from city driving as much as possible unless I was going home.

 

he told me i had to go home and if he cought me driving i would get impounded and face jail time...

if you got a state ref ticket and they pull you over again and try to give you another one, just show them the one you have and they cant give you another one.

 

So you recieved a Modified exhaust ticket but it says see reverse then tells you to schedule a refree appointment. You are screwed in some ways and not.

Ways you are screwed.
1. If in fact it did say u had to go to a Refree appointment instead of a chp inspection check you will have to get the car smogged and they will check to see if the car is loud. (See if you have fixed the problem)
2. You do have to pay a 25-35 fee for that and if it fails because of no carb/exemp stickers which u dont have (and loudness) then you will need to reschedule and go again.
3. It will cause you nightmares and this will suck for you.

Ways you are not screwed.
1. Once you recieve the fix it ticket citation with a court day through the mail go to the traffic supervison court place and pay for the fine it is in fact 300.00-375.00 and this will clear the citation.
2. If you want to be cheap then I would just go to court and try to plead not guility then go to court and see if the officer shows up if he doesnt you got away if he does then try to explain to the judge that all you had was a no license plate frame ticket and he took it to the extreme by telling you to pop the hood and you had no choice and he wanted to get you done for every little thing.
3. Id just pay the citation if you want no hassle then your free.

By the way this happened to me before i was pulled over by a cop who said i had a loud as car and he tried to get me for every little thing he could. He was also a motorcyle which sucked worse. I took it to court and he dismissed my case maybe because i got lucky.

Yes they will, i live in norcal as well and they did it to me.

 

what was the ticket for?

 

if it is just exaust... find out if there is just a fine. should be about $200 or so, but I have heard that it has been done without seeing a ref and just paying the large fine.

 

i have a stock exhaust, its for my turbo...but will the ref guy know what its for or can i tell him its for my exhaust?

 

Modified exhaust has nothing to do with emissions. If you had no cat then you would have to get it smogged.

They will most likely just DB test your car but since you have an LSVTEC they might hassle you.

 

yep, they check the engine. you have to swap a stock engine in man..even if you're just coming for the exhaust dB testing. hybrids aren't allowed. is this in your civic?

just buy one of those carb legal greddy stickers from honda tech. I remember buying one last year. Damn im scared now to drive my ls vtec turbo once i get it out of shop

 

i got one of those tickets when i had a b16 in my car...i was shytting bricks cause i went to the chp to inspect my car and then they told me to go to ref...so i placed my stock muffler back on my car and went to ref...they just tested my car for a db test.....they popped my hood and asked me if it was bard i said no....they just revved the car and tested the sound only...did not smog my car at all...all they did was ran it to a b16 spec...mainly revving it up to 5700...i have to go back again cause i got another one when i was speeding ....gave me a modified exhaust ticket but this time imma keep my exhaust on and see if it passes the ref can give me a sticker stating it legal and under 95db well good luck though

 

why dont you little girls grow some *****. you get pulled over for no front plate, then get a state ref cause the officer clearly violated your rights my forcing you into an illigal vehicle inspection.
if you grow some ***** take that **** to court, and see what the judge says. he'll say dismissed cause its clearly an illigal inspection.

any way, if you people would stand up for you selfs then the cops wont take advantage of there job discrition.
