Default new deck, or new sub

current audio set up is 10w6v2 powered by a jl audio 250/1 and a stock pioneer cd-player. My dilemma(sp) is if I should upgrade from a 10w6 to a 12w6 and a bigger amp, or should I get a new deck. I was thinking about the Pioneer 6800 or 7800...what would be better for me? If it helps, I drive a scion tc (yes i know a girl car), and it's a hatch.

Any other suggestions to amps/decks/subs would be greatly appreciated also.

It all depends on what satisfies you. If you're happy with your sub, then get a deck, and vice versa.

Does the stock HU have RCA outs on the back? Just wondering if you're running amps off of line out converters or RCA's...

The first thing I would do is change you sub amp "JL Audio 250/1" to a 500/1 the JL Audio 10W6v2-D4 is a 400W sub, at 250W it is way underpowered.

I would also like to know what the PPIs RMS output is, as the Alpine SPR-17LS, [I assume that is the model you have] are 70W speakers, also as they are "over-sized" 6.5" speakers, [not sure what the stock speaker is in a Scion TC] but I would like to see how they are mounted, speaker installation is critical for good SQ. 94

PS you sure can't go wrong replacing the HU with a better one, and the Pioneer DEH-P7800MP is a pretty good HU with lots of usable features.
The DEH-P6800MP is also a pretty good HU, at about 1/2 the price.

Find a JL Audio dealer that can demo two 10" with the 1000/1 and the 12" with a 500/1, pick the setup you like the best 94

If you're running off the stock hu right now I'd say get a new hu. Either pioneer will work, the 7800/780 is just a lot more flashy and has a couple better audio features (5v outputs vs 4v, 16bandeq, and time alignment).

For what you're describing I would recommend a new deck then a new sub amp

I would say you can get more power from your system itself once you upgrade the deck.

Possible if the deck is powerful enough. 8V preout deck would be better than one with only a 2 or 3V preout.

You might want to get the 780MP instead. The premier version has a 2yr warranty, instead of a 1yr
