P/S Speed Sensor
I have a 90 LS. I am hoping someone has experience with this or knows what it does. I have 2 P/S lines (I assume 1 in and 1 out) going to the speed sensor on the transmission (where the speedometer cable is). I assume this is some kind of a valve for speed sensitive steering. Does anyone know if that is correct and what would happen if I took the sensor out of the loop? Does it become harder or easier to steer at speed? Thanks for any help.

Perhaps you should heed your own advice. First, the word is "your", not "you're". Second, the G2 Integras did indeed have speed-sensitive, variable-assist power steering. http://www.g2ic.com/specs.php
mc-integra111, I have very limited experience with the G2 racks, but the steering assist almost certainly decreases with speed. What I'm unsure of is what the system "defaults" to if the mechanism is disconnected. Logic says that it would provide full assist, which you really wouldn't want, so your best bet is probably to leave it as-is unless you plan to remove the entire PS system.

They dropped this feature in 94, but it was there in 90-93. Typically, with B18A -> 88-91 Civic swaps, the Civic speed sensor will be retained. You could possibly use a Civic sensor on your car, since it I believe it is the same minus the inlet/outlet. I'm not sure what you'd want to do with the lines though. And, I'm not sure what effect it'd have on your steering either. Do you have a Helms? My 93 Integra Helms has quite a bit of info on this area.
Do you feel that the variable assist is causing you trouble on the track? Do you know if anyone who races the same vehicle setup has looked into what you're thinking about doing? I opted to completely remove the PS from my 98 Integra track car and I like the feel of it now, but the steering under slow driving conditions is very heavy.

Thanks everyone. I am not having any problems with it. My race class requires that P/S be on the vehicle. Therefore, I thought maybe removing this speed sensor would give a better feel, closer to manual steering. From your answers, this wouldn't be the case, so I will use the sensor.
