baseball card in bicycle spoke sound when accelerating?
believe it or not, this is the most accurate comparison to the sound i hear when i accelerate. it sounds kinda like a fan. the dealer said it was due to car being cold however, i am starting to think there has to be more. i have a 2001 4dr civic sedan lx . anybody else experience this? anyone have any suggestions? thanks
Only when you accelerate? What about when the car coasts?
2 things I can think of are a belt issue, or something stuck in the ABS sensor (which is a gear-type looking thing and would make an intermittent noise if something was stuck, but would do that all the time.
Can you pin down where the noise might be coming from (be a little more specific than "in the engine bay")

bare with me because i do not know technical terms...but the sound from what i can tell is coming from the passenger side, more towards the front bumper. And from what i can tell, it only occurs when accelerating...i appreciate the input
i have 107 thousand miles on my car. It might be a tick but it doesnt really sound like a tick or an impact. It sounds more like the flutter (i hate to use that word) of a fan or a propellor. i am baffled by the situation. sorry i cannot give better descriptions. thanks for your help though.
The fact that its only under acceleration baffles me. Over on the right side.... the only thing over there is the transmission, does it stay in gear and does it shift? Anything like a bad CV would make noise any time the car was moving. If its only under acceleration, then its gotta be a noise thats a result of the engine rocking backwards. The only thing I can think of is a motor mount, but once it rocks back, it would stay there... it wouldnt bang around.
Oil pump is on the left, so is the water pump, those may make more pronounced noises when the load and RPMs come up because they spin faster. Anything leaking?
with 107K on the car, it can honestly be just about anything. its not a lot of miles for a Honda, but its enough to make just about anything the culprit.
Do you beat the hell out of this thing? Spun bearing?
If the dealer gives you BS, take it to a private shop. Its not weather related. Honestly its a baffler.... moving or stopped makes it easier to pick out, but only when the engine is loaded makes it a little tougher.

I had a problem on my 96 accord of the condenser fan knicking the fan shroud mounts intermittently when it would kick on, which later lead to the discovery of an accident in my car's history in which the radiator support was off a little bit. that might not help though.

I have this exact sounding issue.
Louder in first, then slightly quieter in second and only just heard in third.. noise gets faster as I accelerate. And louder and faster again if I try to gear down to decelerate.
the speed of the clicking matches the revs but only when in gear. Some time it goes away intermittently …
I did have low oil for a while before this noise started..
my gut feeling says it’s to do with gears and a lot of money..
but any suggestions are welcome before I see a mechanic
