Rollcage fabbing
a 1990 corolla sedan with a turbocharger
I just figured since I'll be tracking it, plus since it was dented once pretty badly and it not a taxi, that I'll sacrifice the rear seat for a rollcage.

Heres the answers to your questions:
1) I figured if I ever need to remove the cage for example if I decide to sell the car, I can turn the interior close to stock. Now if I had them go through the dash, it would show. Also, I didnt want the hassle of having to pull the whole dash out. Thirdly, I didnt want to hack a perfectly good dashboard.
2) Its at the level of the bumpers in the car, after looking at the rule book and talking with cage fabricators and they said about bumper level is good. Some would of gone lower. I was also considering in a side impact, this would be at the level of the other cars front, so I guess with common thinking that it would help support the cage in such an impact.

Nope, my harness is gonna go to the rear seat lap belt bolts. angle is fine over there, atleast from sparcos booklet.
Heh, spinal compression would suck.

You need to listen to this man.
You need to listen to this man.
Legal for what? Street yes and for occasional track. I just cant race with them in a homologated event. I dont live in the US so different rules apply.

Street legality with a harness connected to a crossbar is so-so, they might get you at the yearly inspection for it, as they arent certified belt mounting points.

have never seen a crossbar that low in the main hoop.
i've seen braces attach across the bottom of the main hoop. but there is still a crossbar and also a diagonal from driver top of main hoop to passenger bottom of main hoop.
if you roll over you aren't going to have as much protection the way the cage is currently. the Main hoop will be able to deform easier which you don't really want.
everything is built off the main hoop.

how do you get an inspection if you're dead? I'd go safe over inspection legal any day.

The rear bars are still missing. I'm building it mostly the way it says in the rulebook that governs all motorspots fields here.
Nonsense, I dont think its gonna make much of a difference if I run them from the rear pax seat lap belt mounting point or a bar, the angle of the belt still goes within the spec of sabelt.

Running the belts to the rear seat area is fine as long as the belts were designed to do this. fia standards allow for this and you can actually mount the belts too close based on the standard the fia sets. The low center bar is not something Im used to seeing but I have seen countless fia cages with nothing in the main hoop area. What design rear down tubes are you using? Door bars?
