Default crx b16 axles? weird

I am replacing the pass. side axle on my crx, and the axle only goes about halfway into the tranny. The splines goes about halfway down the shaft, so I know it is a pass. axle. The splines on the other side won't even go into the hub, but the hub is 26 splines, and so is the axle. But the shaft is physically to big to go in. I'm out of ideas.

car: 88 crx si
engine & tranny: b16, s1
axle: 90-91 teg, no abs

Where did you get the axle from? I've encountered aftermarket ones (i.e. Autozone) having a larger spline width. If this is the case, I'd take it back with the one that you removed and compare the two.

Yeah, I got it at Advance Auto Parts. I didn't know that about the larger spline width with aftermarket axles.

Also the the shaft going into the tranny is almost twice the length as the one that came out. I wonder if it is even a 90 - 91 axle in the box.

Yeah take that **** back, it sounds like they gave you a driver's side one instead . Bring along your old one and make sure you're getting the right one. You can show them the difference in spline size as well.
