i have personal experience with this type of item on a s13 chassis.
personally feeling is, i felt a more solid front end however the chassis was old and in an accident.
i'm all for stiffening up the chassis and i would give this a try on my eg

the knock offs are crap. the real stuff is what most track cars use. mostly popular on rx7, 240sx, ae86, etc. On a honda, it's a waste and for show.
Stiffens up the front by providing a strong link between the bulkhead and just past the firewall. This can help increase overall chassis ridgidy making your front end stiffer and turn in response better. However, there have been reports that these can dial in understeer.
Nagisa Auto makes them for many cars. they call them: Gacchiri

Tanabe, SPL parts, NAMS, etc.

it did work on my EF man.
I feel a more ridgid front end, quicker steering and less wheel hop ( before track bar... cause now I don't have any... )
it does work period.
Kranked.

uh........okay haha
what does look's have to do with the functionality or performance of the specific peice? for all i know it may be thinner because of a diffrent stronger lighter material. one last comment is their any proof showing the first generation is better than the rest?

the only way to go is with alex.. as mentioned above by mark , the new j's racing braces are way to thin..
These look real sturdy and solid , I plan to pick some up as well. These and a 6 point bolt in roll cage should make the car feel really rigid and solid.
what alex racing has to say..
"The Alex Inner Fender Brace provides chassis reinforcement between the joint of the car's front engine section and mid cockpit section. Typically, the greatest strength of the car's chassis will be low, concentrated in the frame. As we move up the chassis, we find there is less reinforcement, especially at the fender area, where the forward section and mid section of the car are joined by a few spot welds. Consequently, under hard braking and cornering there is a great amount of flex and twist at the fender area. The Alex Inner Fender Brace reduces this flexing and the sloppy steering response associated with it. Chassis rigidity is increased noticeably and turn in response is significantly crisper and faster."

another thing , some road racing associations do not allow you to run a custom roll cage directly through the fire wall to the shock towers , as many of us have seen in drag cars etc etc. these braces will compensate for that desired full flow through out the chassis...
buy some

good ****** idea...!
best to use steel but how thick , 1/8?
edit : i'll just make some and spend that 250 on a baffled oil pan.
shwing!
