Default Burning engine oil and no leaks!!

Well, my check engine oil light came on yesterday so I took my 06 Si to the dealer. The engine had very little oil, I mean almost empty. They checked for the leaks and didn't find any. By the way, I have Injen CAI. So what they are saying is that the hose that connects breather on top of the valve cover to the intake is sucking out oil. They told me to put breather only on top of the valve cover and I plug a cover on the intake. Does this make sense to you guys for intake to suck out engine oil? I need help bad!!!

The green circle is where I put the breather on now. Before it was connected to the intake with hose.

And I covered the hole with a plug.

Have you considered actually checking your Oil? I could possibly see a car leaving Honda without being full on oil.

Yes I do check my engine oil. And I do my own oil change so I know it's full.
After I do oil change, about a week later, I check and it shows low. At least not full. That's why I took it to the dealer to check for any leaks but apparently there wasnt any leak. And the dealer saying that it's the intake that's sucking out the oil. I still don't understand since no one is having this problem other than me.

An intake shouldn't have anything to do with a oil leak Good Luck !

If I was the dealer I'd tell him to put it ALL back to stock and check his oil every 500 miles (as well as his ECU/rev records).

First, how many miles are on the car? Is it brand new? The K20 is known to lose oil in the first 1k of engine break in. I had to put a Qt in mine when I first got mine

if you know for a fact that its not leaking, do a compression test. oil might be coming out of your exhaust. maybe your rings are shot or didnt seat properly. check if your back bumper is dirtier than normal. also, does it smell like burning oil everytime u hit vtec? good luck

If you were running that much oil through the intake I think you would, at a minimum, be blowing some smoke out your exhaust.

Another thing you could check is the air filter. I would think if you were sucking oil through the CAI, it would leak down and saturate the air filter to some extent.

I also think it would be difficult to pull that much oil out your value cover (not sure about since I once blew 7 quarts out of a racing VW bug motor in about 3 secs, through a value cover)

I have been running a AEM CAI (full, like yours) for several month. I notice I do use a little oil, but not much. I lose maybe 1/4 quart every 2,000 miles.

In my opinion, it is possible the dealer suspects this because they do not know what is causing the oil lose. If I recall, there was a service advisory regarding bad main seals on some civics.

Keep close tabs on your performance and your oil level, look for leaks around the pan. Check your air filter and if possible, disconnect the CAI at the elbow near the intake manifold and check for oil on the inside walls of the CAI pipe. That is above the hose so if oil is being sucked through, you should feel it in there.

Just a few suggestions. Good luck.

Rear main seal leaks were on r18's.

I replaced one but it was too late.

Ending up putting a new shortblock and head in it.

Pull off the intake and look inside the throttle body. If your intake is pulling in that much oil, the inside of the throttle body and the throttle plate should be covered with oil. If they're not, take the car back to the service guys and tell them this.

I am gonna check my intake for oil. And might as well put the stock intake system back. We'll see.

Someone who does there own oil changes and has a intake with the breather on wrong comes into the dealer with no oil in the motor. I'm sorry, but to the dealer that is a claim that is begging to be denied.

While I agree with you completely, it does suck for him and nothing is going to be gained by us rubbing in his mistake.

The line in bold is FRAUD if you are trying to pass it off at another dealership like you never modded. If you want to mod, pay to play, don't make us suffer a more restrictive warranty because you made a mistake in installation or picked a POS intake.

Jon

PS: I had to deal with this with my Subaru and SOA, God forbid Honda turns into that.

I wasn't rubbing in his mistake, I was replying to the person questioning the way the dealership took care of him and what direction he would take with the dealership if it was a warranty issue.

I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM i check it daily just because i know that i race the car alot, if u pop the v-tec alot expect to burn oil faster. i use 5w-30 royal purple and it burns like nobodys business, thats the reason i keep 2 quarts in the trunk just in case. i recommend it

No..intake is installed right. The hose does connect to the breather. So it's not the installation. There is no trace of oil in the hose or anywhere. It might be because I vtec a lot but still that should burn all the oil within 4000 miles the way I see it. And intake does NOT void your warranty if u know what I am talking about. I just wanna know what the heck is burning all the oil...
