valentine1 FTW with concealed display.

My friend's setup... he took the concealed display out of the box (the concealed display case is actually a lot of empty space)... This is in his Integra.

some people put theirs in their rear view mirror, etc :D :D

BTW..... Valentine 1 is THE way to go. Their patented arrows tell you WHERE the cop is... So if you see the up arrow go off/beep, you know it's in front of you. Many times I'll see it UP, then SIDE, then Down, and I look on the other side of the freeway and there's the cop passing by.....which allows me to speed again :D
This has even helped on remote country roads.

It is more expensive, but I have not lived without my Valentine 1 since 1998. When I switch between my 99 EX and my 07 Si, it goes with me. If I don't have it in the car I feel so paranoid. I would not waste my money on ANY other radar detector and I had 3 before my V1. I have been on trips with packs of cars that have had several detectors and mine ALWAYS goes off first. If you are serious about your radar protection, get a V1.

Go for the V1 you will not be dissapointed. ( besides the price). If it saves you from a ticket it will pay for itself. They can be upgraded when new technology comes out.

I'm running a cheap cobra and it's worked great so far. I'm gonna give it the true test in nebraska on my way to vegas next week. (135 on I-80) and any nebraska cops out there here's your chance. catch me if you can (FBP Si)

I will never drive without my V1. I feel naked and exposed without it.

And that's one of the dumbest comments I've heard (if you're serious). You can't outrun the radio. And Nebraska cops are RUTHLESS! I got pulled over going 68 in a 65. Didn't get a citation, but he said, "keep it at 65, son."

Another V1 here. Got it after my first ticket when I was 16 and haven't gotten another ticket since. Saved my @ss so many times I can't even count. Tech support is good too! The sensor went bad after it was out of warranty and they covered most of the cost to replace it (it was my fault i left it in the car during a heat wave and fryed it)!

No, but even if I did, I wasn't going to slow down from 68 to 65. I think they just saw the out-of-state license plate and just wanted an easy ticket (not for speeding, but for a possible expired registration, insurance, etc.)

Yeah I guess I wouldn't have slowed down either.

SR7 with shifter. It detects radar and diffuses laser signals. Undetectable so you won't have this big "thing" sitting on your window. Just two units. One mounts in the front bumper, the other in the rear. Pretty expensive though. They usually run about 1300-1500 installed

Ive got a Passport X50. Ive been through 2 cobras in my day and read good things about the V1 also. But ive read a bunch of articles and reviews and they said that the X50 was the best one. So I got that one. it runs somewhere between 3 and 4 hundred i think. its saved me countless times as well. My vote is for the X50...but i would also have to agree with the Valentine, ive also heard good things and read good things about that one also.

But the only problem with the X50 is the price..

??

Does the radar detectors tell you when theres a cop around or does it only detect cops with radar guns? Also, can it detect a cop car if their car is turned off?</TD></TR></TABLE>

It is a radar detector...NOT a cop detector. it will only go off whenever a radar signal is being put out..in other words. the police officer has to have there radar on and running for it to pick up. The stronger the signal...the closer the cop/or the closer the radar signal is to you...

Radar detectors only detect radar. If; however, the "cop" has the radar shut off you won't be able to detect it until he turns it on. There are new systems out that detect both radar and laser systems that law enforcement use. Some systems even diffuse the laser signal that some police use so that they can't get a readout at all from their cruiser. However radar cannot be diffused....it is illegal....radar can only be detected.

The SR7 Plus with the shifter is an excellent system to get. Pretty pricey though but it makes your car nearly invisible to speed detection.
