Wondering what the cheapest and best way to turbo a D16y8...someone help please!

 

There is no cheap and best way.

 

Junkyard turbo. Along with a search.

 

LOTS of research and taking LOTS of time to find good parts being sold for cheap. i think $600 can get you a decent setup if you part it together yourself and do LOTS of research to make sure you understand the properties of each part and how they interact with the other parts.

Yeah and better yet the forced induction forum could help him out a whole lot more..

Check out some kits on H-T classified. I will tell you from my point, being a first time D16 owner and going to boost in the spring, I bought a kit from an H-T member for a VERY VERY VERY reasonable price. It is a complete kit minus one angled pipe, dump tube, and I'm getting the manifold welded (hairline cracks) as I type. Just those things alone I had some run arounds trying to get together and I have yet to get the angled charge pipe yet. I just figure if it's this hard when I have a 98% complete kit I don't want to imagine piecing together an ENTIRE kit from scratch. H-T classifieds FTW!
