friend sent me pics of his car and asked me if it was fixable..i guess he was going to fast at night and didnt know the road ahead was a turn and he ran into the curb while trying to turn..does it look fixable? i told him it'd be a waste..but wanted to get other opinions

 

Hard to tell from these pics. It might just be bent suspension or it could have effed the frame

 

With those pictures it's really hard for us to effectively tell what's damaged other than the fender.

lol, as the back of the tires rub the fenders, that suspension is deff fucked big time

 

I'd say suspension as a whole and probably axles, and POSSIBLY the frame judging by the pic from the passenger side, that looks fuxxzored.

 

lower arms on the front are probably bent/ broken and caster most likely too. the upper arm may be okay (hard to tell). axel on the right side most likely gone.

 

It would be fixable. My old Integra i did almost the same thing and it cost like $389 at Alignment Auto. Your place probably don't have that shop but Mieneke does it to if thats what i rembmer.

im not really shure on what happened really except for the story that he told me..but from the pics i just thought that probably the suspension and axels and frame..which is wat i got from you guys too..im just gonna tell him its totaled and to buy a new car..

 

Looks like the arm is bent, goto a junkyard and get one, make sure it's the exact car though (for instance a 4 door arm wont fit on a coupe) That's what it looks like to me

 

Its fixable, but for x3 the value of the car. When I sold my 93 hatch, the kid hit a ditch a month later and bent the frame, dumbass.

I suspect with $300 and a local junk yard he could be in the road again, even if he has to swap out the subframe. In fact, if it was me, I'd buy the whole subframe including suspension from a yard and swap it out. It's not that hard. I'd hold the motor up with a hoist and do the whole job with the motor in place.

Probably don't even need a hoist now that I think of it. Lower to and upper side mounts should hold the motor there while you pull out the subframe.

He should have a frame shop check the fram for straightness.

Also, you don't need to hold the motor up. The two other mounts will do a good job themselves.

geez looks like he ran straight into a curb and guardrail pretty hard. i doubt theres frame damage, but its proably not worth fixing unless you can find a parts car for cheap, or front suspension for cheap.

 

like I said, anything is fixable its just all about the money and the attatchment to the car.

 

attachment to the car? hmmmm...well i've done all the work on the car that has been done..he just drives it..so i dont think he cares that much except that he might need another car to drive..
