Default What needs to be done to get really high RPMs?

I have tried searching the forums but i cant really find out what i am looking for. i am about to buy a hatch with LS engine and it has Crower 404 cams and crower retainers and crower duel valve springs. im not to crazy about the LS enigne w/o vtec but it does have a built head i would like to know what does it take to hit Really high rpms! as in 11,000 safely, i was thinking girdle and a good oil pump, but what else would i need to do to a LS b18b, thanks, i also read that power doesn't really kick in till 6000 rpms and thats just 1000 before shifting.

The only engines I've heard of reaching 11K safely (Honda CAR engines) were Mugen engines. Contact someone at Mugen USA and ask them.

WTF is everyone talking about...just buy my spoon cluster and rev to 11k all you want. you don't need any head or block work at all. the cluster just has to read 11k

there is no point to bring an ls motor up to 11k rpm, it wont make more power.

revving that high is pointless unless if the engine continues to make power that high. there is no need to rev an engine to 11k and it stop making power at lets say 8-9k. you are causing stress thats not nessicary. do you want the engine to make power that high or just to give people rides and be like watch this. gl with either one

ha i remember like 4 years ago i wanted to build an LS that revs to 11K. then i learned how bad of an idea that is. and i also started using the search link. leave 11K to bikes and F1 cars. you'll never make power that high. LS heads do not flow enough air, even if ported to hell. and cams that agressive for an LS would cause a terrible idle and valvespring binding. save your money, buy an AP1 S2K and be happy with 9K redline from factory.

not trying to be a dick, but its not worth the effort.

a more realistic number would be 9k, and ever then it takes a lot more building than you stated to make power at 9k.

unless your are auto crossing and have a need to stay in 1st gear the whole time, you don't need 11k. So don't take offense to the comments and spend your money in making a faster rev to 7k

Ok what ever you guys say, i'm still looking for an answer, i doesn't matter why i am wanting 11k or 10k or 9k i am just looking for what needs to be done to the motor to hold it, what cams are needed and what needs to be done to the bottom end and the head i am not tying to do it to a stock ls engine for all you dumbasses that cant read, when someone that knows what there talking about with a helpful answer gets on here then i will be satisfied. this is not a daily driven car it will be built.

You want a serious answer? Ok, you have two options.

If you want power, take ONE THIRD of the money it would cost to get a ls to rev to 11K and put it in a cheap turbo kit. I guarantee you will beat any n/a ls engine that way.

If you want your car to rev high: Buy a b16, spend a few thousand building the engine, rev it to 8.5-9K if you build it very well and hope it doesnt fall apart.

I've always read that high revs put alot more strain on a car than boost. A LS at 6 psi will put down good power, especially if its a turbo car. SC would be good too, they're just better for bottom end torque.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do.
