205/40/16's...ONLY in 40s???
I bought a set of rims yesterday and 2 of them need new tires. The ones on there are 205/40/16 and i dont want to spend so much money on 2 tires so i was going to get fatter tires on all 4 but the guy says i cant get deeper then 40%.
thanks for any info.

You need to get the proper size tires for your car and for the diameter wheels on it.
The proper 16" size for a CRX, del sol, or pre-'96 Civic is 205/40-16.
The proper 16" size for an Integra or '97-00 Civic is either 205/45-16 or 215/45-16.
What kind of car (year, model, version) do you have?

Stick with 205/40-16. Especially if you have modified your suspension (which would only increase the chances of rubbing with a larger size anyway).
Why are you even talking about getting a different size tire? If you want more tire showing, for looks, then get smaller wheels. If you want better performance, get a better, stickier tire in 205/40-16.

205/45/16 is the largest i would go. it gives a little more protection for the wheels due to the slightly larger sidewalls. when i saw some 205/40/16's they looked like rubber bands. of course it also depends on brand also cuz i noticed sidewalls differ btw brands.

Then you would have been better off buying smaller wheels than 16".
