How much can d15b2's take?(highway driving)
I'd like to ski almost every other day at my home mountain like 45 miles away. I have 186k on the clock and the engine runes really strong, when It gets to the uphill I ease up on the gas alittle just in case. I'm just wonder with good maintence which I made sure of how long can I push this engine?
I was alittle worried about being stalled on a highway like 50 miles awasy from home in the snowy climate. When my car stopped for the 1st time on the road I have become alittle scared. Turns out the original distributor was shot.

Baldy every time

highway driving is best anyway for engines you want to last long....The stop and go city driving kills engines, and puts such a bad wear on the timing belts, cooling system,etc..

My beater is a z6 with auto tranny, all 100% original minus timing belt, plugs, wires, rotor, cap, coolant, oil, trans fluid. EVERYTHING else is original.
194,000 still runs strong, doesn't burn oil either.
My highest mileage car was a D15b2 with over 220K on it. Burned oil from the valve seals above 6K rpm, but ran very strong and was beaten like a rented mule every day.

I have a D15B7 with 230K on it and it goes through 4 QUARTS OF OIL A WEEK! For some strange reason now it won't going above 2000 rpm and it misfires and bucks while it struggles to move. I hate that damn motor.
^wow I was thinking about picking up another d15 because I had high mileage (186) but I think I might hold up, just in case I think I'll purchase AAA
