Default roadracegeek -- the blog

Just thought I'd post over here about my new race blog:
roadracegeek

I'll be running my original owner, 91 EF hatch in the NASA WERC Enduro series: 2007 Schedule Here. I'll be posting regular updates and race reports as well as all the gossip and stuff that seems interesting.

Here are a few snaps of the new paint:

See the rest in my latest blog update

Thanks for looking.

You going to hike that across country for Nationals? You can park it next to all our CRX's.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by julio_bOostamante &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">My community college Econ instructor once explained the term “specialization of labor”. Something about people being most efficient when doing the thing that they were best at. There were test questions about it, as I recall. The idea is that a contractor has no business doing his own yard-work. In order to maximize his efficiency, the contractor should hire a gardener. An hour working as a contractor paid him more than the gardener charged. Plus the gardener could cut and edge the lawn twice as fast as the contractor could. Using specialization of labor, the gardener gets work, the contractor saves time, and there are no lawn tools eating into valuable garage space where the contractor keeps his racing stuff. Everybody wins.

I did not do well in Econ, though, and every time I talk to a painter I forget all about it. My cheap-bastard genetics take over. I forget all the bad **** about body work, paint prep and the astronomical cost of automotive finishing materials. I figure I’m a pretty handy guy. I could save some real money and just do it myself.

I am an idiot.</TD></TR></TABLE>

Awsome way to look at it.

Made me chuckle

hell yeah.
i like your optimism:
"Thawley’s goals in racing are to learn constantly and to develop his original-owner, 300,000 mile 91 Civic into the most successful EF hatch in history."
i saw Bernardo Martinez put all the tourists (including myself) to shame in a MazdaSpeed6 on the autoX-type course at the Mazda ZoomZoom Live event a few months ago. didn't the announcer guy say he was the Formula Atlantic champion or something like that?
or am i just imagining things again?

I'm pretty sure Bernardo can spell Formula Atlantic. But that's about the depth of his experience with formula cars.

He has multiple SCCA and NASA championships in Southern California. All that I know of were in his CRX.

They're Team Dynamics Pro Race 1s or 1.2s.
