Default question about gearing

i want to ask what you guys think about the 94 accord dx's gearing. is it meant for acceleration? i thought the gears were supposed to be tall but when i drove it home today after the purchase, i realized that the rpm's climbed pretty fast. in my old d16y7 hatch, i would usually be able to cruise in third at 40mph with the rpm's around 2000. when i was at 40mph, the rpm's were at 3000. i'm hoping that the last two gears are much longer? i haven't been able to try it out because i don't have insurance yet and the speed limit on the way home was 40.

I usually go all the way to 5th gear whenever I am cruising or above 40MPH. The engine feels kinda stiff to me, so I try to shift below 3000 RPM to improve gas economy.

I realize when I drive my girl's prelude, in no time, I am at 3000RPM and more. My car feels heavy going to 3000 RPM. Thats where I usualy shift, and I cruise in the highest gear possible. Its alot smoother.
