Default ef8 front end swap, t bar needed or not?

Can someone settle this for me, searched but very contradicting information regarding this subject.

just purchased a jdm front end for my crx, did not come with a t bar, ive read some post that say u can install without, and some say u absolutly need t bar, can someone settle this for me please, i dont want to start and then have to abort mission. Also i got a free Jdm rear bumper. will that need anything special to install or will that just bolt up.

Any info will help thanks guys.

The USDM one won't allow the hood to latch.

However, the EF8/9 JDM one won't work either.

There is an obscure EF7/3 one that will work perfect but it is nearly impossible to find.

You'll just have to file out the holes and/or shim with washers.

hey, i know this will help. you DONT need the jdm t-bar to complete the swap. you can use your USDM tbar. I actual ran into this problem when i converted my front end to JDM. even with the JDM t bar, the hood would not latch. I had to add metal spacers to the 4 screws holding up the t-bar to the car nose and adjust the hood latch so that everything could fit right.

spacers have to be approx .75- 1 inch. the reason that being is that the JDM EF8 front frame is longer than the USDM version. I know this cuz I know have a EF8 rhd.

let me know if you have any other questions

The EF1 and hatchback EF2 ones work as well. How do i know? I ve had a few 'EF9 style' front ends and those VIN tags came with them.

yea JDM tbars are pointless for usdm chassis because they are practically the same thing except they have that hole for the intake tube.

for the meantime i just hacked up and hammered a random tbar i had laying around

but i got my hands on the right Tbar...ill post some pics of the proper Tbar

For pics

Can you show us how to identify the special ones from regular JDM/USDM ones?

use the usdm one, move the latch on the hood as far back as possible nad move the latch on the tbar as far foward as possible (u may need to use a dremel to get it farther foward) and it will work.

http://www.jdmuniverse.com/for...17535 <----this is the link i used when i got my JDM front end and it cleared up a lot for me

Its pretty easy to Identify USDM vs JDM Tbars...They are Identical except for the fact that the JDM Tbar has a Cutout on the passenger side of the Tbar for an Intake tube/vent.

The EF7 bar isnt that hard to recognize its just hard to come by. The best way to figure out if it is the right one or not is to have USDM Tbar to compare it to. Its much more flat and the latch is positioned further up to accomidate the SIr Hood.

In this guy's defense, when this thread was started, the pics didn't work in that thread.

Glad the pics are working again.
I think I will download the page so that the next time the pics stop working I will still be able to view them.
