I don't want to sound stupid or anything. But what exactly is clay-baring? And how do you do it? And what would be the best kind to use?

Go to the car store isle with the car wax stuff. Mothers (& others) make a clay bar that's kinda like modeling clay, comes with a spray bottle of cleaner/wax stuff.

First wash the car. Then spray the wax/cleaner stuff on, & rub the clay over the paint to remove the hard little peices of dirt stuck to the paint. It's an alternative to cleaning that up with polishing compound or bug/tar remover. Then wax it with real wax.
