What do you guys do (about Oil changing)?
i havent changed my oil in about six months, but i have only put a little less than 2 thousand miles on it since. i am useing 5w30 mobil 1 full syn with matching filter.
do i go ahead and change it just to be safe or do i keep it till about 3-4k? i drive about 5 miles in total a day going about 40 max. so if anyone can give me advice, that will be great. thank you in advance!

not sure what the problem is, i have a 1 mile commute, i drive like 4miles a day with my car, and have 5w20 oil in there... i've never had any oil problems. i change my oil every 4-5 months, sometimes longer.

exact same thing for me.
exact same thing for me.
i do 1 month or 4000KM's. Its just a precaution, but my car has 200,000km's and its running perfect, even under my tough driving. Oil is the blood of ur car, if ur oil is toast, ur whole engine is effected.

Getting the oil changed after 6 months is not the problem.
Driving you car less and in short trips is even worst.
You do more damage on the engine that way.
As your engine sets still all the lubricant properties of the oil fall down onto the oil pan, thus leaving your pistons, valvetrain and bearings dry, and when you drive on short trips your engine is running with poor lubrication and right as is getting warm and lubricated you are done with your trip.
Eventualy you'll see worn out rings and other parts.
You shoud use stuff like lucas oil stabilizer in added to your oil, but nothing replaces a good highway drive more often.
Just my .02 hope it helps

yea i understand that, its kinda common sense..so thats why i warm up my car everymorning for about 6-8 minutes or till the needle hit the center mark on the gauge then about 10-15 on my trip to work..i do that both ways

If you do that and you use full synthetic, then 6 months is not a problem.
Synthetic motor oil does not wear out--it just gets dirty. But that's what the filter is for. As long as you take your car on extended trips every other week or so you'll be fine. And syn. flows a lot better upon cold startup than dyno, especially 5w-20. That stuff is like water.
Again, you're fine.

Do not use that product, modern oils have enough damn additives that additional ones end up doing more harm than good. oils have anti foaming additives to keep the others under control, add even more and your oil will turn into a foam party, seriously. It was great a while back, but no more.
And 6 months...who cares, if one actually reads the manual, at least for 04 on, its says to change every 5k miles or six months

Couldnt be more untrue, most places get u to do a bunch of oil changes right when u buy the car. It helps clean out all the crap from the engine.

bought the car with zero miles on it, never did they ask me to get a bunch of oil changes. just your regular 3k or 3 month thing, but thats it. car has been treated like a ferrari since then.

I change mine according to the interval in the owner's manual. I put it up on the ramps and curse the bloody engineer who located the oil filter so close to the exhaust pipe.

Don't get mad... it's like that on most ALL FWD cars.
That is what I love about the Mustang, the filter sits right in front of the Suspension K member up front.
It's nice to not have to reach for it anymore.
