I was driving down the street and it had just stopped raining. I wasnt even thinking about my cold air intake until i hit a HUGE puddle caused by a stopped up sewage drain. It bogged down little bit for a sec then i just died. When i opened the hood it was smoking little. Needless to say it woudnt start again. I guss that i blew the headgasket...what do you guys think? How can i tell for sure? I was told that it would probably be cheaper to get a new engine than to rebuild it...is that true? I guess this wuld be the perfect time to get the performance engine that ive been wanting. Im short on cash and i need to get this taken care of fast. I live in greensboro, nc and i would like to talk to someone local if at all possible. HELP!!!

total should be about 700 for the zc and all the misc parts you will need (i am including things like fluids and others stuff for this price) about 150+ shipping morre if u want the zc trans as well.
wait a day or two and see if it starts, if there is water in there it'll be dry by then. Don't jump to concluions right away. Some engines just don't run well with moisture, like when you go into a carwash. I'll bet if you try starting it when it warms up everything'll be fine. And if the engine is cooked you got nothing to lose anyways. If you really hydrolocked you woulda heard a big bang and probably busted a rod. give it a day, or hell go try it now. Like I said, you got nothin to lose. I wouldn't worry too much.
If your car ever dies from gettin water in it then dont try to restart it. You can pull the plugs and turn it over and blow some of the water out of the motor. REXb16 you like gisele? She's friggin hot....nice pic...

how can i turn it over after ive taken th plugs out? And do i need to take of te valve cover t blow the water out of it?
Is there even water in there? Even if there is water in there, you could try turning it over, the only thing you would cook is the starter since it doesn't have the power to bust any internals. If you turn it over with water in it the thing won't move, either that or it will spew out water(But I doubt it), right now just pull out the plugs and let it sit overnight. put'em in tomorrow and try to fire it up.

pull the plugs and turn it over. the water should spill out into your exhaust manifold.
Personally, I would pull the head off and take a looksee. You'll be able to notice if you bent a rod.Take a turkey baster of something to get any loose water out. Get a new head gasket, put it back together, and start it back up. Just taking your valve cover off won't do anything..

Alright...i did what you told me and pulled the plugs and tried to turn it over. Alot of water cam out so i cleaned it up with a rag and did it again. The second time when i went back to the engine i smelled gas. It seems that some gas came out too...is this normal? Well anyway, it still wont start. After it first happened it would act like it wanted to start for a second, like the motor would start to turn over but then it would just stop. Now that i did the spark plug thing it wont even do that. All you can hear is the starter whining. Im guessing that it is locked. What else can i do? Is it even worth the money to try to rebuild it? Thanks.

what happened when you tried to start it? Did it crank over and over and over? Did you ever get out of the water? Did you crank it for a long time or just once and gave up?
My brother and I got caught in a puddle a few times. Twice in my CRX and once in his accord. For all those times we were able to get out of the puddle, crank the engine and apply gas and it starts and no damage what so ever (big water gun exhaust and comes out for like a minute). My brother still runs his accord on the daily and I sold the CRX last year, it was 2 years before I sold the car and about a year that we had sucked up water.
