Default Transmission problem F20B Engine

Hi,

i have a Honda Accord 1998 model. Mechanic has advised the transmission is failing and needs replacement. the problem is i am not able to find a tranny for this engine. Do you guys know which tranny will fit in this engine? my mechanic said that its an electronic gearbox controlled by computer and the transmision which was available had a cable (kick down system) which wont work. Is there a transmission available which could direclty bolt up to the engine with out any major changes?

if there is none then if its possible to change the whole engine with a gear box?

Please advise, any help will be highly appreciated.

One more thing after decoding my VIN it reads CF9 model but i cant find it on any of the sites...can some help on this to.

Thanks.

98-02 Accord transmissions are junk IMHO
There is a warranty extension for them if you are under the mileage limit.
Check the price of a reman unit from the dealer maybe?
My signature link explains all about the CD, CB,CF codes

i am not sure what is the warranty milleage but the car has done approx 53K.
Does this warranty apply to the second owner? the thing is that i am in Fiji an the car was importedfrom singapore and acording to the VIN its made in America.

Cant find reman transmission here in Fiji.

If another transmision could fit i could import it but need details about it.

if you know how to apply the individual chassis/engine codes, then they aren't just BS but an easy way to see what region the vehicle is from, what body style, and which engine it is equipped with

for instance, the cf9 is an asian market wagon with an f20b dohc engine (h22 derivative). honda even applies this chassis/engine code system in their manuals...here is a direct shot from my 1994 accord 2dr shop manual:

to the OP, you may want to look into a prelude sport shift transmission if you cant find another f20b auto or have yours rebuilt.

i found the following numbers on the tranny - BAXA-5168485 WPAX40.

the numbers were not engraved like the engine has but a bar code sticker was on the tranny reading the above.

is the partnumber for the tranny?
