brake shoe question
Ok so my e-brake is sucking ***, and breaking doesnt seem to be as good as it should be. I read that there could be a problem with my rear drum brakes (88 si) that is causing the ebrake to not work. I plan on trying to fix whatever it is, but I have never done any work on drum brakes. I plan on just going to autozone or whatever and picking up the parts I need to get it back the way it was, so what parts do I need to fix this..shoes, cylinder?? I have no idea what these are but I just want to pick the stuff up now and figure it it out later when I put them on.
you would only need new cylinders if you have a leak. If you are not leaking any brake fluid they should be fine.
before I would buy shoes, I would first take the drum off and see how much life is left on the shoes you have. They last a very long time, usually longer than the pads on your front brakes will last.
i think you just might need to make an adjustment. All you have to do is push a flathead screw driver on the adjuster to make the shoes fit more snug against the drum.

Oh cool, thanks for the info. I will try to pull them apart when I get the chance and adjust them, if i can figure it out. Ill bust out the manual..
check my sig for the crx manual.. it will help you out.. and remember ONLY DO ONE SIDE AT A TIME!!!! do both and forget how the springs go on and you will not love yourself...
