Default New CRV Rear Main Engine Seal Problem

Purchased 12/23/06. On 12/30/07 noticed oil on floor & took it to nearest Honda dealer, not the one I bought it from as I did not want to drive too far not knowing the cause of the leak. Tentively diagnosed as rear main engine seal leak. Dealer rep told me NOT to drive it home to wait for the parts to come in as I might experience other problems. Parts to be ordered 1/2/07.

Question: Does the warranty cover me at ANY Honda dealer? Should I have gotten a loaner car? If I run into any dealer problems who do I call at Honda? Has anyone else experienced this problem?

Of course you can have warranty work done at any Honda dealer.

Loaner cars are not the norm, however sometimes at the dealers discretion it happens.

If dealer does not treat you to satisfaction, call Honda customer service # listed in your owners manual.

Have not had any significant problems with any CRVs Ive owned (99, 02, 05, 06)

I just got my CR-V too, but I have had no problems as this is not the first I've heard of the leak. this is the second. the first one happen to a guy in NJ and it was within 5 days of him owning it and he went through alot of ****, but HONDA ended up replacing the whole vehicle, and should be in this thursday.

I really agree, if this happens within the first 14 days, that if it involves the engine, or transmission that Honda replace the vehicle. I think overtime this can potentially happen again, and you'll be paying out of your pocket. that's just my opinion.

The rear main engine seal was replaced on 1/4/07 and on 1/6 I found oil on the garage floor. This repair was done by the closest Honda dealer not the one I bought the car from. Which dealer do I go back to for further repair inorder to possibly qualify for replacement or money back under the Lemon Law?

Crazy. I would go back to the dealer who made the repair and ask them WTF.

Just got mine on 12/28, mine is ex-l navi. first day, drove home hit a nail. came back next day they put a new tire on. just my luck hey. next week, reading on the honda suv forums, i find out people are having rear differential noise/vibration. i went to test it out, sure enough its there and happens on and off. I took it into the dealer i bought it at and they are replacing the TCD, traction control differential, i think thats what it stands for. My dealership gave me a loaner car for the meantime. I am waiting for a call this week to pick it up. I'll update then. I have not experienced the oil leak you mention though. Good luck.

He mentioned the rear main seal, two totally different things. If you walk into a good dealership and you are a return customer, go up and ask for a print out of tsb's . These will explain to you what has been recalled, and what to look out for. Its basically for mechanics, so they don't have to reinvent the rock every time a problem come in.

So say someone comes in with the noise you speak of, they will pull up the tsb's and take a look, usually if a few dealer ships have issues they will make a note of it.

Example, if you ever pull up a tsb for the 2000 Honda civic Si, you will see that the trans is mentioned. The grinding in higher rpm problem, I know some dealers if you are a return customer, will fix it for free.
