Coolant Leak. cant find it. causing hardcore overheating
first off, i have a boosted z6 in my 95 ex coupe. Over the past couple of days i have been having really bad overheating issues. i have tried acouple of ideas to fix it. I first assumed it was the thermostat because it wouldn't even run @ normal running temp. so i took the thermostat out and it ran perfect. well next day i goto drive and its running at operating temp as i am driving down the highway then all if a sudden the temp needle just starts to rise. and i couldn't stop so i drove it on "H" for about 5 miles. well i turned the heater on cuz i heard it helps make the temp go down but when i turned it on high heat all i got was cold air blowing out. then steam starts rising out from below my steering wheel and passenger floorboard. well when i got where i was going i parked and you could hear air being sucked in somewhere. I got out of my car and looked under it and i see coolant dripping from where my two heater hoses go into the firewall. well i pull the one hose (on the right side) and there is no cracks or any damage to it so idk where the leak could be coming from. any ideas?
I'd check out your heater core...Doesn't always leak into car, well atleast when mine went in my passat a couple of years ago it didn't.
if im not mistaken, (which i very well may be) doesnt the coolant only flow through the heater core when the heat is on? the way i understand it is when turning the fan controls to HEAT it opens the valve, allowing coolant to pass through it.. someone correct me if im wrong, but you might have 2 problems.. 1 being a clogged heater core..

i thought that too so i turned my heater off and turned my temp to cold but it still did it.

connect the lines that go to the inside of your car for your heater using a barbed coupler. Basically eliminating your heater core. Fill the system back up and see what you get. If it's good to go, get a new heater core and hoses.
To do a cooloing system pressure test you need a pressure testing kit. Using the barbed coupler like the one guy said is probally your cheapest way to go. I used it on my passat but never put a new heater core in and it held up fine, just got a lil cold in the winter.
