Default Is this what I need?

Is this the engine I need to do a direct replacement for my 96 civic coupe dx non vtec? I just want to remove the old engine in my car (d16y7) and drop in the new one with no computer swap.

Yes

That's the motor for that car.

'96 - '98 DX = D16Y7

Pull the motor, straight pull and drop, straight up, everything'll bolt right up, computer'll plug right up and work fine.

I couldn't tell ya. I reset my modem 3x and STILL it only works on Honda-tech and AIM.

All other sites don't work, with any browser, and no links work - but Honda-tech itself is fully manageable and I can access every part I normally can...but I can't click on a link to another H-T page.

Some seriously fucked up ****.

Tho sorry dude, I'd take a look if I could.

Can anyone also confirm that? Also can someone go to the site I posted on this thread a little higher up and show me an engine that is a direct plug and play for my 96 dx d16y7. Thanx

Only way you can use that motor that you linked is if you use your old engine harness, imjectors, sensors, distributor, ect. depends on if its worth it, i know you can't beat the quality motors that H motors gets

Ha, finally, my internet came back up.

No, that is absolutely horrible.

First off, due to the big *** "Hmotors" emblem I can't even tell if that's a VTEC SOHC or not (ZC came in both VTEC and Non-VTEC).

Secondly, it's a pre-92, meaning it's OBD-0. You're going to want an OBD-IIa setup.

Thirdly (word?), that's a straight drop for your car as far as bolts go, but you'll need a different computer.

Fourthly, that's not an engine for your car (year and trim), though it'll fit.

Fifthly, I think buying from hmotors is a ******* rip off. You can drop 1500 on an LS complete changeover or buy a totaled LS locally for 200 bux (which IS the complete changeover (all sensors and ****) but without the warranty, and if the engine's bad you can pick another one up for 100 bucks.

I rather go through 3 used motors for 100 a piece plus the original totalled 'teg totalling out around 500 - 800 bux than paying 1500 or some **** for an hmotors WITHOUT shipping.

Though that's just my personal opinion, you can still get motors cheaper if you buy locally.

You want a D16Y7 if you don't want to do a computer swap (which isn't hard to begin with...only 2 bolts and a few plugs). Though if I were you you can pick up a D16Y8 (VTEC) for like 200 bucks, it'll be straight drop in, you can use everything you have right now including the axles and the tranny, so all you need to do is swap the ECU to a Y8 ECU.

That's what I would do, personally. There's a rather large difference between the D16Y7 and the D16Y8. I'm not trying to overrate VTEC but it does make a big difference there.

What do u guys think of me taking this-http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Honda-Civic-D16Y8-Vtec-head-complete_W0QQitemZ190066480770QQihZ009QQcategoryZ3 3617QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem-and adding it to this-http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/D16Y8-Block-Complete_W0QQitemZ170066371213QQihZ007QQcategoryZ3 3613QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem? Then all I need is a distributor and accessories. Could I take them off my d16y7? Would the tranny from my d16y7 bolt up to this and work with the d16y8 computer?

First off, when you post a link, post it as a link so pple can click it (put it inbetween url tags like this: [url ] http://www.*&*.com [/url ] (without spaces. Secondly, that URL isn't complete, after the end where it says viewitem? - there's supposed to be numbers after that, like viewitem?itemID=23423 or something to that effect, you didn't copy/paste the entire address.

Also, you can use a D16Z6 (which is essentially the same motor, just a diff OBD) with a OBD-IIa to OBD-I conversion harness and a p28 ECU for the same price. Though I'm not sure if going down in OBD is legal in your state.

Look around, you should be able to find one.

Ok. Im just new at the whole posting links things so its trial and error. With the D16ZC what cars did that come in so I can figure out what to ask for at the junkyards. Yeah ky dosnt give a crap on emissions or any of that. We have full blown monster trucks that just cruise down the roads here. Would u happen to know what obd actually stands for? Just curious.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...sting

thats the first one i found, didnt even look at the price.

For the $400 max for the Y7 would that be a complete Y7 or like the listing above, a Y7 that you need to use all your accessories and sensor off your old Y7?
