Default G/f stalling out my car

My girlfriend wants to learn how to drive a stick. I'd be glad to teach her, but I don't want her to damage the clutch or anything else from stalling out.

So, does stalling out damage anything?

Be a man and say "No".

That's what I did.

Stalling doesn't hurt anything, but riding the clutch and grinding gears does cause damage. You can wear synchros and damage gears, and riding the clutch will just wear it out.

Just stalling wont do a thing.

Haha...I've had my turbo civic for almost 4 years and NEVER let my g/f drive it.

i stall all the time because i'm too damn lazy to drive stick sometimes LOL

just teach her, it will benefit you in the long wrong when your too drunk to drive...

just teach her to let out JUST The clutch slowly and the car will move itself w/out any pressure from the gas pedal and take it from there. must have a lot of patience otherwise you'll frustrate her and she won't want to learn anymore...

like said above, just make sure she's not riding the clutch or griding gears and you'll be fine...

so as far as not riding the clutch goes, thats why i recommend having her learn the clutch first by JUST letting the clutch out slowly and the car will move itself w/out any pressure from the gas pedal

Exactly why I needed to teach her.

^lol. stalling is fine, just make sure she doesn't grind the gears, slip the clutch too much or get a bunch of wheel hop. friend tried to teach his lil sis how to drive his rsx, and now one or more of his mounts are gone.

Yeah my wife tried to learn how to drive my car. After stalling twice and one over-rev, the session was over. She's learning on another car now!

I would be more worried about her over reving it if she stops on an incline. I am the only one that drives my car unless I absolutely need them to. Have patience with her. Try to remember when you started driving a stick.

I taught my ex-gf how to drive stick on my old H22 Civic Coupe with a Comptech Stage 4 Clutch.

Don't ask me why I agreed to it haha.

Surprisingly, she didn't stall AT ALL. She actually got going her first time!

I should have married her rofl

Not bad as long as it's not on a consistent basis. I had an '03 tiburon and went 75,000 miles on the stock clutch grindin numerous times. It was the car i learned how to drive stick with. Anyway....never had any problems once i got the hang of it.

I almost always use a little gas when im going in first gear on the road. I'll rev to 2000 and let out the clutch. That'll do damage?
