Need some info on 2001 Civic
Hey guys,
I used to have a 95 Civic Ex until i hit a deer, do now i'm thinking of buying a 2001 Civic EX and I have a few questions.
1) What is the D17 engine capable of doing? How much whp can it hold before the stock internals come apart?
2) The cylinder head off of my D16Z6 is still in great condition, can I bolt that cylinder head to the D17 block?
3) What kind of tranny comes with the D17, is it a better tranny than the one i have for my 95 Civic Ex? Can I bolt my old tranny up to the new block without any problems?
4) Last question, I searched and I found that the 2001 Civic Ex only weighs 2200 lbs., is this correct?
Thanx guys for any help

And to answer your other question... nothing from your old car will bolt up.

1. As of right now, the highest hp numbers from a D17 engine, are around 400whp. But, trust me, it took a LOT of money to get there (roughly $15,000). Stock internals might get you 200whp, with a large amount of tuning.
2. Nothing from previous D-series engines will work without serious modification.
3. Same with the transmissions, nothing will work from previous generations. The D17 transmission comes in a decent gear ratio layout for the EX, and a better layout for the LX.
4. 2001 Civic EX (manual transmission) curb weight - 2553lbs.
