JL Audio 10W7 or 10W6?
Is the W7 worth the extra $$? Or would the W6 be good enough
I don't want to go booming up the street like the usual stunnaz.
Just looking for a really tight responsive sub for a variety of music.

Then go with the w-6 and save some cash. Setup right it will provide you with enough sub bass to rock your car.

come one... who wouldnt pick the w7 over the 6.... just dont turn it up... just knowing your got the w7 would be way better than having that w6. Good luck with the choice but I would pick that w7 up if you got money if not get the 6
What a choice to have to make, the 10W7-3 is a SVC 3 ohm 500W sub, requiring a 1.25cuft sealed or 1.5cuft slot port enclosure, it is a very good sub.
The 10W6v2 is a DVC 4 ohm 400W sub requiring a .625cuft sealed and a .75cuft slot port enclosure, also a very good sub.
Here is some info... http://mobile.jlaudio.com/prod..._id=3 on the W7, and some on the W6... http://mobile.jlaudio.com/prod..._id=4
Here is something to keep in mind, the 10W7 weights in at 30 lbs, the W6 is less then half that at 14.4 lbs, the W6 will have a smaller, [lighter] enclosure also.

Lots of people I'm sure. Bragging rights aren't important to everyone
To the op:
I think you would be more than happy with the w6 given ample power, and the proper install. I would recommend plenty of dynamat/raamat in the trunk too

Correct. I am not a "boomer". And I don't plan on showing off the system.
Thanks for the advice guys. Soundls like a 10 or 12 W6 will do just fine.
(along with some sound deadening)

I've had two sets of 10w7's and I couldn't be happier with them. If you want, they can get way loud but their also great for SQ.
In my hatch a couple years ago I had two 10w7s powered by a 1000/1. In competition I did 148.8db
I just built another box for a 10w7 to do some testing...I've been throwing 800 watts at it for about a month (rated for 500w) with no problems.

but what kind of box is it in? how much power you running to it? what kind of amp? and at what frequency is it set at? that can happen to any sub that isn't ran to spec. again, im not saying Infinity is better than JL but is good enough. I ran 3 10" W7s before and 2 12" Infinity Kappa Perfect subs. The JLs were crazy but I was satisfied with the Infinitys.

I have heard that the infinitys are prone to having the spider tear away from the voice coil when driven too hard, or mounted in a improper box.
