transmission question
Does the 89 trans work with the 90-91 clutch set up? Since i do know there is a difference. But someone who is selling me a trans said that the 89 input shaft went with the y8 clutch set up. Is that true?
I blew my trans from my 90 si and need a trans bad.

i dont believe it does. i think the spline count for the input shaft of the trans is different on the 88-89 and 90-91. i think the rule of thumb is that you match the clutch year to the trans year. everything else bolts up fine.
the spline count is different for 1988, it's 21, 20 for the rest of the years...also i think the flywheels were different sizes for 88,89 & 90-91. look at the FAQ for "differences" it should be there.
btw that's a great family picture.

thank you
you are right about the spline count. 89-91 are the same, 88 is the odd one out.
