Popping spring sound when door opens?
90 CRX DX
When you open the driver door there is a 'pop' then the sound of a spring vibration. Like it's catching something just slightly and releasing. The door still opens all the way just fine, but I'm wondering where this "spring might be. I've stripped my old 89 CRX Si to the frame long ago, but remember seeing anything in the area that could be causing this.
Any ideas? Thanks HT-er's.

look between the door hinges, there should be a little metal hinge type thing there with a pin inside of it. on mine, the weld broke loose and was letting the pin slip out of the body, actually, it keeps your door from opening more than its supposed to.
mine was doing a similar sound and I found out that I leaned on my fender (aftermarket) and it bent in alittle, so the door was slightly rubbing on the fender.
the hindge pin is old. there are brass bushings in there that are worn out due to old age. you need to replace those and it would be good as new.

My Sedan has the same popping noise they are describing.

yeah the brass piece can be bought online on the Honda parts website. its like a few bucks. to replace it you need two people for the replacement of the piece.

omgwtfbbqcrx <------- What he said, unfortunatly mine was like that when i bought it its the hinge the gold pin goes threw, if you notice its suppose to stay stationary but it moves ou well just put a few towels around the area and pop the pin out then weld the hinge so it is like new again. Im not so lucky guy before me slunge it all the way open and theres to dings in my door gap at the fender from hitting.

Are you kidding me?
There is a part number for every single part on the car, all the way down to individual bolts and washers and nuts.
