Default What else should i do?

I just got a AEM intake from my freind for Xmas. I wasent planing on doing anything to my car as i wanted to swap for a K20. Since i have the intake should i just gop all out and buy an exaust and headers, or should i just save up and get the swap. I was allso wondering if the intake will work on the k20.

On a sl;itly difrent subject, my clutch is realy burned out, is making sounds when i shift and is grinding alot plus it has to be slamed into gear or it wont go. when i swap out for the k20 what kinda tranny should i get? and what kind of clutch?

I know some of this has been posted before about the k20 swap but it dident realy anwser my questions. My civic is a 2005 LX 2 door coup, silver. all stock (havent put in the intake yet)

the intake will obviously NOT fit since the engine is completely different. besides, the d17 has a janky top mounted throttle body. don't waste any more money on a crappy d17; save for the k20

You could always make a go-kart out of the old D17, or put it up for sale. You could get a couple hundred dollars out of it.

As far as your car goes, I'd recommend some suspension and brake upgrades, along with the K20. No sense having more power, without the handling to take care of it.

as matt said, suspension and brakes go hand in hand with more power.

Hawk HPS pads, Brembo blank Rotors, Motul fluid and Stainless steel lines, should be all u need for stopping power, but if u want a bling factor, and u know ur gunna go K swap, u can always swap the rear for 5 lug disc's.

for suspension, upgrading rear sway, getting a neuspeed front upper strut, GC sleeve on koni's seems to be the best setup going.

I would go with tein ss coilovers, and as stated above upgrade your brakes. But maybe you should think about getting a k24 block and butting a k20 head on it. Just my 2 cents

the reason i am looking at the k20 is that the k20a3 seems to have some nice horses and it looks like alot of people do it so i wouldent have to hard of a time finding parts and allso geting some help droping it in, as i am not the most mechanicly inclined person ever. Its just i wanted to get some practice messing around with cars before i buy my WRX and mess with that.

k20a3 = 160 hp
k20a2=200 hp

the k20a2 is a FAR superior engine, plus the 6 speed tranny is unbelievable

I think ur going to need to fix that tranny before you get a Kseries swap together, they arn't cheap, and I'm guessing by all your questions, you havn't done major mechanical work before, I'm sorry if that sounds like an insult, because it's not.
But a Kseries swap is a big undertaking, you may want to just turbo the d17?

like turboing a car is easier than a swap. the maintance for a boosted car isnt cheap.

From what i have been hearing the engine its self is about 2.5k thats not to much for me i should have about that much saved by september. The only problem is i am planing on buying a new WRX STI Imprezza when i get back from Iraq. So as it stands im kinda leary about doing anything to my car right now. Only prob is i like to go fast and i havent got my bike yet..... il be puting the AEM intake on about saturday, and was thinking about an exaust then some lowering springs.... no to sure though.

What would some of you think i should do to my little ol ricer to get it give it some more kick?

Allso you are correct in that i havent done much mechanical. I usaly only mess with elctronics and such but i though it would be fun to mess with my car some. Thank you all for the imput to my rather stupid questions.
