I was just wondering what methods are effective for cleaning deep grime on engines, my block is dirty as hell. What do you guys use?

question - what will stop the motor from oxiding when i clean it??

 

if you spray all that engine degreaser, can you spray your engine down with the hose after wards and just let it dry?

I use simple green but has anyone ever tried those steam machines I always see the infomercials for?

 

I tried to use that thing but it just takes way too long. It worked well on the plastic parts and stuff, but as far as getting the grime off without using a degreaser, forget about it. easiest way is to find a place that'll do it for 20 bucks...

Simple Green for me too, works wonders. (make sure you cover your air filter, and your distributor cap!)

 

I use this stuff too. I just hose the engine bay down with it, let it sit for about a minute and rinse it off with the mist funtion on my hose. Let me track down a picture real quick of my bay for you.
