Default Life Lesson #1, Always lock you car regardless of where you park.

First off, let me say that I was a dumb and naive a$$hole. I thought that since I live in a nice neiborhood that car theft cant happen here; a nice upper class area of the 714. I was so comfortable with my area that I often left my Honda unlocked. ( STUPID ) I'd leave my stereo face on the radio, and all my CDs in it's case sitting on my back seat. My car was such a sweet target, like a old water buffalo surrounded by a pride of hungry lions. No protection from anyone who might want to take a bite out of her. I came out this morning and opened my door.
First, my door was barely latched, second my dome light didn't go on. I thought, "what the hell, did I leave my lights on and drain my battery?" So I decide to try and pop the clutch to get it started, and when I lean on my doorjam I see my hood popped. (still nothing like theft crosses my mind) So I close the hood and decide that I'm not going to be able to pop it, and recruit the aid of my pops in jumping the car. He gets out there and brings his car around, I pop my hood, and with Jumper cables in hand I'm looking at my battery. I see my negative cable and my positive cable, with it's red rubber cap. . . and I see my positive battery terminal. The positive cable was not attached to my battery. Just then my neighbor comes out and says that his Rott was barking something crazy last night, around 2am, and when he came out he saw someone, running down the street, and he thought that they were after his ATV trailer, because the guy ran behind the trailer and out of sight. NOW the pieces are starting to fall into place. My door loose, my dome light not working, my hood popped, and my + battery cable removed; now I'm pissed. I realized what had happened. My little sheltered world comes crashing down.
I am probably more pissed at myself. How stupid have I been? How could I have been so ignorant that I thought that no one would ever come to this neighborhood to jack a car, jack my car? Why am I special. I have what A LOT of people want, and now they know where to find it. I now enter into the highly polulated world of people who have had their **** broken into.
I must have had some serious good karma, or someone watching out for me (yeah, my neighbor), because they didn't get a damn thing. I am one of the luckiest Honda owners around. They didn't get my stereo, CD's, my new RC car, and best of all, they didn't get my car. I have to thank God, my lucky stars and anything else that might help, I still have my car.
And before any of you start flaming me for being stupid, I deserve all of it, but I wasn't completely unprotected. I just had LoJack installed, and had they gotten my car, I would have known early. But I now know that I have to take the same precautions at home that I would if I were parking her at The Block or The Spectrum.
Next on my list of things to do, Compustar with custom stealth install, and multiple system redundancy. (and a big black guy named Bubba)

Lojack = one time fee
GPS = initial cost, plus monthly fee

I was looking for a GPS without a monthly fee.

Yah, but you see stolen threads all the time in the regional for sale forums. Its a good way to see whats going on in your area. AND a good way to let people know to lookout for **** for sale thats been jacked in your home area.
