Bone stock si dyno numbers and top speed run...
Just thought I would let everyone know that honda did underate the new civic
just slightly. Went and saw an 07 dyno'd today.
The car put down 155whp, then backed it up with 156whp. Both runs were
113wtq. Peak power was 8100+ on both runs. Car has speed limiter at 215km/h, or 133mph. It could be only the canadian version, but there is no doubt it has one.
As reference, a stock type-s(02-04) put's down 148whp, and 116wtq.
An 03 type-s put down 151whp, and 116wtq with comptech icebox and exhaust. An 05 type-s put down 172whp and 126wtq with mugen header, injen cai, and powergetter exhaust. We have all of our dyno days on this dyno(local dc5 club)
Just more proof that the rbc is much better.
Yes, this is a mustang dyno. It reads very low.
Another example: 05 s2000 with intake,exhaust, and a/f tuned made 195whp.
Dyno is deadly consistent, well set-up. I backed my car up within 1 hp a year later just to check before modding. Others have done the same because we have at least one dyno day there every year

Yeah Mustang dynos do read real low apparently. Anyway.......here's the top speed run on a U.S. civic.....

goes 2 show the si is better then the type s! right?
I think so. We haven't had a bone stock 05 on this dyno yet, but judging from the modded numbers, they are only very marginally better than the 04, whereas the civic is 8hp better.
This dyno is a ball buster, but the tuner is incredible, and consistent.

I don't know what kind of dyno you used but if you put down 156 whp there is no way that the car is losing over 40 hp through the drivetrain, although if the type s put down only 148 then that dyno reads very, very low. Usually on a 200 crank hp fwd car you can expect to lose 20-25 hp compared to whp.
It's a loaded dyno.(eddy current)
It works the car like it get's worked on the road.
It's not like a dynojet where it just measures against a satic weight.
The loaded dyno's are far better for tuning, whether it by dynapack, mustang, or whatever. This is especially true for forced induction cars.

DYNOWN3D!

"So there may as well be three ratings... hp, whp, and ghp (ground horsepower)"
Nope, you should just use a good dyno.
For the purpose of extracting the most accurate power numbers versus the factories engine dyno, you can't beat a dynapack. The wheels are removed, and it is still a loaded dyno.
If you want the most realistic numbers, and the best tune, run a mustang dyno. The wheel/tire combo is the single biggest loss on a fwd car.
The interaction between the tire and the road surface is an important factor.
The mustang dyno gives you all of this.
I did a lot of research before choosing my dyno an tuner.
My car has been tuned 4 times, and everytime it hits the previous number
within 1hp.
I also did a comparison to a dynojet. My car accelerated through 4th gear
in a time(represented by "x") on the street.
The dynojet run was .5"x".
The mustang run was .94"x".
It shows too. The car runs so smooth on the street, because it is very closely represented by the tune. The only factor that can't be accounted for is wind speed, which would account for the 6% difference in elapsed time.
I'm sorry to ramble.
I should add that dyno operators and tuners are not all equal.
Do you want to know what the final deciding factor was in choosing this dyno/tuner?
He doesn't sell any parts, just tuning.

Driving 127 on the highway is cool
. I don't give a **** if you were doing it when you thought no one else was around, if you were mistaken and killed someone because you didn't want to take the 10min to figure out how to register for an area auto-x or go to a test-n-tune at the closest drag strip I would be very sorry that you were ever allowed on the road. It is people like you that make insurance rates ridiculously high for people our age, and give people the idea that import enthusiasts lack the appropriate brain-gas pedal connections.

Life doesn't last forever, sorry but I for one plan to enjoy every part of it, even going 120+ on public roads.
