Default Hard wired FM transmitter

Ok so I want to use my mp3 player with my head unit, only it has no aux in and they don't make a cable for the cd changer to adapt a line in, so my only real choice is a fm transmitter. Now I've heard lots of bad things about them , but I am not looking for perfect sound quality, just something to listen to while I'm driving, and I heard the wired fm transmitters (plugs into antenae) work fairly well, better then the wireless. So now my question, where do I find one of these? I saw this at Best Buy..

http://www.smalldog.com/product/40187

I know its made for their Drive + Play unit, but I'm wondering if I can plug my mp3 (not ipod) into the stereo jack, which then plugs into the antenae spot. Anyone know or have some advice?

These inline hard-wired modules your talking about are still wireless transmitters because the audio signals need to be modulated to an fm radio channel, they are just physically located ((connected) to the arieal. personally for all the hassel and if your not that interested in quality use the wireless.

you can always buy a pre amp line isolator and feed the signal diurectly in the preamp in if yor stereo if it has one.

or if its a cassette deck you can by a special tape with a fly lead that plugs into the mp3 player and plays throgh the coupling of the cassette magnetic head

a couple of alternatives. good luck

The wired FM modulators work well. We installed them on most XM radios when they first came out and since they were a direct connection to the antenna, they sounded pretty good.

That link you posted won't work because it only has inputs for a Sat radio antenna.

Get one like this:

As long as it's got a set of RCA inputs, you can get a "Y" adapter cable with a headphone jack on one end (to plug into the iPod) and Male RCA's on the other, it'll work nicely.

What is this pre amp line isolator that you are talking about? I think the stereo has a preamp (don't know much about this stuff) it says its like 50x4, i assume that's the preamp.

No, that's power output...

A preamp input is simply an input before (pre) the amplifier. (Aux input) Since you've already said that it doesn't have an Aux In, just go with a wired FM mod like the one in the link I posted.
