Default buying slicks have few?

i have been searching throught the site for info on slick size i am making about 270hp now and will be making a little over 300 next season from what i have read i should look in to 23" slick but should i get a 13" or 15" rim and also would 24"s be overkill. I have a turbo ls with a ls tranny

I personally used Mickey thompson 24.5 by 7s in a B16a CRX with 15psi and it got 1.7 60ft at the track and ran an11.5.Use the Lenzo lite weight rims.there good up to 350-400whp.They lasted me a whole year and thats going everyweek to LACR and running 20 passes a week.Good LUck,Darrell

true that

if you can get a 13" on your car your soo much better off

23" or 24.5" ls tranny
check this out

it will help with 270whp you should be trapping about 119 in a 2100lb car

I would get the 24.5's. It will allow you to be more flexible should you have the urge to turn up the boost. You can always play with the tire pressure to adjust for traction as well. Get a 13" rim, whether it's Bogarts, Lensos, Welds, or Circles, it all depends on your budget.

thanks for the input i think i will go with 24's and just start at like 12psi and go from there i trap at 117 now and i let off before the line i am hoping with 300+ hp for some 120 traps and any thing in the 11's i will be happy just have to learn to drive the car now

u dont need anything more then 8's right now, and even 8's would be enough for when/if you go with more power.

i'd get the 23x8x13 setup for now. The hp you have and considering you have the LS trans, the 24.5" will be too big to push. The 23" will be good for the gearing you have.

Get a 13" rim and slick combo, theres alot of choices for the 13" rim setup and you get more sidewall on the slick with the 13" rim.

oh and the VPD 13" are being used in 700hp cars right now. Kyle Herrera is running our VPD rim on his EG h/b, I believe his fastest is a 10.00

i made over 620hp and ran low 10's on 25x8x13's. so what? all im saying is an 8 inch wide slick is a pretty standard width, and you really dont need to go wider then that , especially at the power level that is in question...

As Wil stated, there is alot of variety with a 13, so go with that.. as far as choosing 23's and 24.5's, im sure a 23 will be more then sufficient for now, but if you plan on stepping up soon, id suggest getting at least a 24.5

i thinks i am going to stick with 23's i mean i will up the boost some but i am on the stock motor so 320 is probally the most i will want to make and the car only weighs a little over 2000 any way so that should be enough power for me to post some good times and have fun

i had a 280hp boosted sohc with lenzo's and 24.5's mickey's and ran 12.3@112,just come out the whole like u stole it. besides if you start turning up the boost your not going to have enough slick.

The 24s would be perfect for U with the power U want.I used stock axles for that year and they held for 11 months but I prefer U to get the stage 3 drive shaft axles so u dont have any problem. If U get the 24.5.Use the 13 by 8 inch rim.If your car is really lowered,U have to either roll the fenders or raise the car up a bit so when U brake,The tires wont scrape the fenders.Good Luck,Darrell
