Default Is a stroker kit a good idea??? *need help**

Hey...
My buddy has a completly stock JDM ITR motor... I have convinced him to spend some money on it!!
I dont know a lot about em, but weve both been thinking about stroking the motor
Like I said.. it is completly stock other than an intake and header. Is it a good idea?? and if so can anyone recomend a kit? he wants atleast a 2.0L kit. Ive been looking at crower kits..
does anyone have the stock bore on a jdm itr motor??
Thanx

I'll trade you my B20 block and just give me the ITR one and we will call it a deal!

B20 = 2.0l no need for doing all the work on stroking it till it busts!

81mm is the stock bore on all b-16 and b-18 motors. 84mm is the stock bore on b-20 motors

No go. The B16 has a shorter deck height than the GSR/Type R. The block is shorter, is what I'm saying.

It's been done before, but it didn't work.

Tech43, wristpin location was wrong.

It can be done with stock pistons, you will need a custom rod.

the $ is better spent on skunk2 pro1 cams, proper valvetrain, and a tune.

my stroker kit is 81.5 with a 89 sroke from crower on a b16a2 and redid the head as well...you make the bottom end so strong and the head weak something is going to give in the end.....if you have the money do the whole thing

The longer the stroke, the more abuse your bearings will recieve over time. But that is the only downside.

For a stroker motor to really breathe well, you need a big header and lots of headwork along with some good cams. With a stock ITR head, cams, and induction system, you will really be choking the motor.

He should look into a good set of boltons first. A DTR header, IB ported ITR IM and a good set of cams with a tune will make a world of difference compared to a stock ITR.

I am using a stroker kit on my b18 block sleeved to 85mm ...only thing is my power stops at about 8000rpm ....I was wondering if Crower's stroker kit you could rev higher.....

my friend has a ITR head and they already have dual valve springs and he is using the blox stage B cams...same as skunk 2 but little bigger and no problem....so if he got stage 2 cams and 70MM throttle body and port match the manifold he would make better numbers......he will have alot more tourqe with the stroker....

With a longer stroke, your peak torque and peak horsepower occur at a lower engine speed. If you want to revv to the moon, use a shorter stroke like a 87.2 or 89.
