Default how do you check for warpage on the head

i was going to replace my head gasket and people have told me to get the head machined for warpage but that means more money that i dont have so im looking for an easy way out to check if i warped the head and if it is necessary to get it machined...how would i go about doing so

you can get this piece of metal i call a "straight edge" i can't remember what is really called but you lay across the head and check for gaps

steel ruler, T square, anything that has a true straight edge and can span the entire diagonal width of the head. Lay it diagonally, then front to back and side to side on the centers. Use a feeler gauge in the middle or any areas there is space to determine warpage. If it's all good...it's all good.

A straight edge " something you KNOW is machined true " and then use feeler gauges to determine weather or not if it is warped... don't quote me but i think .001'' is oem spec on most honda engines. ASE style says to do it straight across and then do an X for 3 diff. positions. But I would check it in as many ways as you can. - Ashby
