where did you get valve cover an fitting welded on and for how much? im located in los angeles everyone wants like 70 bucks! crazy anyone want to weld me one fitting for some cash.

well it takes about an hour to prep it and weld it and stuff they charge you one flat rate shop hour

 

it has been stripped of all paint and oil just need it to be welded

 

I paid a guy I sorta know through a buddy $40 and he stripped the original paint off and everything.

I would PM someone on here, like the guy who posted above and said he can help, drive to him, even if its a lengthy drive and have him do it.

otherwise, whip out the phone book and call some places that do metal fab, and exhausts to see if you can find it cheaper.

 

Brent Levistad from PFI did my 4 vents for free, but he's just cool like that.

 

tig welds cost money these days.

 

Wich size AN-fittings do you guys use for the lines?

 

anyone that does it for less than an hours labor is doing you a favor or a shitty job.

 

Tony1 welded 4 -10an weld in bungs for me at a good price. Consider that
A)people do not work for free
B) The bungs are about 8$ each
C) and most shops charge 75$ and up an hour for labor

So a quote for 75 $ isnt all that bad

 

I payed $20 to weld 2 -10's on. I had all the paint stripped off and had the 2 holes drilled for them. It took about 30 min from the time I dropped it off till they called and said it was done.

 

trust me pay someone who knows what they are doing and pay them what they want. it sucks *** to pay someone else to fix it when it leaks or breaks off, etc...

and just remember just about all shops charge you a 1 hour min.

I do the whole process for $100 including 2 fittings, stripping the whole VC, cleaning it and welding 2 fittings on... no less though cause I have alot of other projects in the way, but small things like that I will do right away

 

any other alternatives then to welding?

Hmmm that setup looks really familar $70 is outrageous! What I did was:

- Remove the paint with Aircraft Remover (sold at AutoZone/Pep Boys)
- Drill the two holes in the front carefully, and finish it up so the fitting sits on it nice and flush so the welder has no work to do.
- Then just take it to them and say "weld this to that please"
- It costed me I think 14 or 24 dollars, I can't remember which.

JB weld? Alum Braizing rod?

 

Look in jegs bolt on type deal. Baffled ,oringed, no welding required -12an. nice looking piece.

 

i dont see how that setup works????? is there a one way valve for one of the inlet? or do the air pressure breath out both of the lines???

when u have two lines coming out like that, routing it to a catch can will not work...

since air pressure doesnt know that it should go one way and out the other. unless theres a one way valve on one of them. letting air pressure in but not out and vise versa on the other one...

 

....THE VALVE COVER IS STRIPPED....NO OIL, NOT PAINT, NOTHING JUST A HOLE IN THE FRONT I JUST NEED THEM TO WELD IT TO THE CLEAN ALUMINUM AND I HAVE THE FITTING TOO

Pressure is escaping out of both of these. Thats why they are generally called, breathers/vents

There is no one way valve on the fittings. There is a baffling on the inside of the valve cover that helps prevent oil from draining through the lines and filling your catch can. Basically tt just allows the engine to have better ventilation and breather easier....the pressure goes out the valve cover, then through the lines (both at the same time), then out the filter on top of the catch can. It's the same concept as the one one the back of the block, but the one on the block has the check valves and such.
