I would not recommend clearcoating primer:

1) I dont think any paint manufacturer will assure adhesion.
2) Primer sprays with heavy orange peal and needs to be sanded. If you spray without sanding, the clear will never lay flat. And you cannot spray clear on a sanded surface. You will see the scratches.

I would recommend possibly painting your car with a basecoat that is the same color as primer and then clearing.

i'm sure you can find a basecoat that is very similar to a primer color.

What color are you looking for. Primer comes in black, white, grey, green.

Also if you just want a flat looking color all you have to do a put a flattening agent in the clear. This looks 100% better.

Not true. Anything you spray can come out orange peely. Its all about technique. If you know what your doing and really wanted the primer to look good (haha what a joke) you can lay it flat.

Not a car but this is a set of wheels I painted. I used plain black and sprayed clear (with a flattening agent).

Flattening agent looks just like paint, and you add it to the final clear coat. I use PPG just because i steal it from work.

Is that really necessary?

Anyways you can buy these at any paint supplier. Find paint suppliers by going to a local bodyshop and ask them where they get there stuff from.
