Gas milage at 70-85mph
So ive had my ITR for a while now. One thing that really impressed me besides from performance and everyday practicallity is the gas milage. Even at 70-85 on the highway, im still getting around mid to upper 20 miles per gallon. Is this just my car or is everyone else experiencing this glory!? What more can you ask for in a world with rising gas prices......
thanks again J for letting me use your account.

On my mostly-stock ITR, if I'm doing mixed highway driving - 70-85 mph but stopping here and there for various reasons - then I'm typically getting 25-28 mpg. On a long-distance trip, where I fill the car, drive 300 miles without stopping, and then fill the car again, I'm typically getting 30-32 mpg. In more normal everyday mixed city-highway driving, I get 23-26 mpg. And on the track, I get 9-11 mpg.
With the jdm transmission, I've been consistently pulling 30mpg with freeway and highway driving. I think I can attribute such decent mileage to auto-rx, and to a lesser extent, techron fuel system cleaner and lube control fp60.
When I used to run techron only, I'd usually manage about 26-28, rarely ever hitting 30mpg. But after auto-rx, mileage definitely went up.
I usually call bs when people report things like this because when you're eager to hit 30+mpg, your mind will probably subconsciously ease off the gas.
But, I tried autorx right when gas prices dropped, so needless to say, I was hitting vtec more often than before.

That depends on how many gallons you fill it with. Some people fill their car with 9-10 gallons, some wait until it needs 12 or more. Miles per gallon is what really matters, not miles per tank (or gank
).

sounds about right.... never ever* got above 35mpg on the highway on long trips.
*one time, just once... i got 38mpg from nashville to somewhere north of west lafayette, indiana.
could have gone a bit farther but i figured my gas gauge was just being overly optimistic, esp with 380 miles on the odometer!
and i spent that long stretch at around 80-85. maybe i caught the jet stream just right
or i was following a fast moving truck, i cant remember....

Best i have gotten was 345 out of one tank. Was driving 72-78mph. It was a long boring trip...
Usually i get 320 around town and interstate.
When i play with it a lot, i get about 280-300.

Thanks for the wisdom... last I knew zeroforum/8 was the ITR specific board and ITR's don't normally have cruise and when there is a thread posted about the gas milage everybody gets with their ITR's suggesting cruise didn't seem like an answer that applied to 99% of the ITR population ..... therefore ....

One isolated tank of gas can give you higher or lower mileage for any of a number of reasons. Maybe you had a tailwind. Maybe when you filled it at the end of that tank, the gas pump clicked off earlier than usual, so you could have squeezed in another gallon or two. Maybe both.
Mileage figures are more reliable when you have several tanks driven under the same conditions.

yeah my EVO averages between 25 to 27mpg when the loud pedal is used alot less.

My car is not stock but NA and I see around 25mpg for street driving and short highway stints at 75-80mph. Cruising on the I-5 from SF to LA I saw 31mpg at 85-90mph. At the track, around 10mpg. I don't know what stock is but I'm happy with my gas mileage. Beats my old FC anyday.
Btw, vtec is set at 4800rpm and I usually don't hit it unless I'm on the track.

I get about 24- 20 mpg on the Autobahn. All depends on were I am going and traffic. I like to cruise at 120-130mph. Sometimes you get into speed zones or have to slow down for slower cars passing, construction, and weather. More I stay in 5th gear Vtec the more I drink. Compared to my 07 530i the ITR gets damn good gas mileage. The ITR's handling feels better at all speeds too. Back in the states the ITR used to get 29-30mpg at 80mph with short runs to 100 mph.
i see 35mpg on a multi purpose tank of mostly cruising and some vtak
thats UK gallons, dunno what US ones work out too but i know they're different
before my tune i only ever saw about 31

1 Imperial gallon = 4.546 liters, ≈ 1.201 liquid U.S. gallons.
Your 35 and 31 mpg translate to our 29 and 26 mpg.
