Default Dis-assembly of three piece wheels

I am going to start a restoring project on a set of wheels and I was just wondering if anyone out there has taken their three piece wheels apart before?I just really am looking at whether or not you had problems like stripped threads or bolts when taking them apart and what did you torque them to when assembling them? Thanks

i just sprayed a gang of wd40 on the inner and outer bolts and let them sit for awhile and then went to work. when you talke them off, there is no right or wrong way to do it. i like to use a crisscross patern, though. when you put them back together use a criss cross pattern for sure and the amount of pressure you use on them really depends on what size the bolts are.

if the wheels are not modular(2 piece barrel) then loc-tite/silicone really is not necessary but feel free to dab a lil on the edge of the bolt if u feel more safe w/ it.

there is actually a correct method to it...i don't know of hand but it depends on what type of wheel it is....some have a silicone around them as well on the outer barrel...so be careful

put 5 bolts on around the wheel...make sure the wheel is centered when you tighten those bolts......then after that you can put one bolt on after another...doesn't matter how you put them on after that....when you torque them on it is 25 foot pounds...just tighten them down one after another in a circle.....

hope that helps you out......and by the way they are still in bussiness the rack sell's there wheels as well as other company's
